You know, the kinds that let you hear police calls and stuff. What does the squelch do?

The squelch is the static that you hear. Turn the squelch knob until the static stops, and leave it there. If you need to know the different frequencies, you can buy a book at Radio Shack that has all the listings. They also have a book that gives the codes. Although, not all cities use the same codes.

just turn the buttons and try to tune in a Chanel. oh don't forget to turn it on
