Jordan without a doubt. No player has ever dominated both statistically and with championships, like Jordan. Wilt dominated statistically but only had 2 championships. Bill Russell had numerous championships, but didn't dominate statistically.
And as far as shooting (2) guards are concerned, he's all alone at the top. His career FG% is .497, and averaged 30 points per game in his career. Ppl like to compare Kobe to Jordan, but his numbers aren't even close to Jordan's. Fans don't realize how well Jordan passed, and without turning the ball over. Kobe in 10 seasons, has yet to post a 2 to 1 Assist to TO Ratio. Jordan accomplished that 7 times.
Also, Jordan averaged 1.60 Blocks per game one season. That's better than the average Power Forward in the NBA. He also averaged over 3 steals per game one season. Usually the players that avg in 3 steal range, are generally smaller/quicker guys like Allen Iverson. Jordan was 6'6. He played like a 6'0 guard with lighting quickness, and then played like a 6'10 Power Forward, as a shot blocker. Again, you have to give the nod to Jordan as the greatest player of all time.
Hurricanes.. why don't you explain why Kobe Bryant is the greatest player ever. Please do. He might be the best #2 man of all time, joining Jerry West and Scottie Pippen, but as the main guy he's 110-109 as a starter since Shaq left. It's a different story when it comes to actually winning as the focal point. Shaq is a greater player than Kobe. Without him the Heat have had a losing record (34-38 without him over the last 3 seasons). With him they've won a title and have an incredible record (119-51). It's as if they're two different teams with and without him on the floor. Sorry my friend, Kobe's not getting it done in the wins and losses column. He's basically a 6'6 version of Kevin Garnett, only Kevin Garnett puts up better total numbers.
And also, during the championship yrs from '00-'02, the Lakers were 24-7 (tremendous record) without Kobe. They were only 13-13 without Shaq.

Ever doesn't work! up to today there has been Wilt, Russel, Magic, Bird, and Jordan. Jordan is not better than the rest of these players. When Kobe's career is over he will be mentioned with this group. There is no one BEST of all time since time will go on forever. And as long as it does there will be people that will come along and prove to be the best of thier time. Jordan was the best of his time, as was Russel, Wilt, Bird, and magic. Today Kobe is the best.

Pistol Pete Maravich. Greatest college player ever, and made it into the hall of fame without long years in the NBA.
