45x = 11

45x / 45 = 11 / 45

x = 11 / 45

#1 - First step is to distribute (multiply the numbers inside the parenthesis by the number out front).

9(x - 3) + 8(x + 6) =4(8 - 7x)
9x - 27 + 8x + 48 = 32 - 28x

Next, combine like terms on the same side of the equal sign. (x's with x's and constants with constants)

9x + 8x - 27 + 48 = 32 - 28x
17x + 21 = 32 - 28x

Now, get all x's on one side and all constants on the other side by moving the smaller x term by doing the opposite (in this case, add 28x to both sides to get rid of -28x). Then do the same with the numbers.

17x + 21 = 32 - 28x
45x + 21 = 32
45x = 11

Finally, divide both sides by 45, to "undo" multiplying x by 45.

x = 11/45


#2 - Follow all the same steps as in #1:

7(x + 2) - 3(x + 1) = 5(x - 6) - 8(2x - 6)
7x + 14 - 3x - 3 = 5x - 30 -16x + 48
4x + 11 = -11x + 18
15x + 11 = 18
15x = 7
x = 7/15

I hate Algebra but I think that you just have to use the distributive property, 9x-27+8x+48 =32-28x

7x=14-3x+3=5x-30-16x-48
