Happy Valley is a region...not a city....the city is State College, PA, and it is not near ANYTHING. It's not in Philadelphia, in fact, it's about 200 miles away from Drexel University.

If you're heading to PSU from Jersey, take I-80 West to exit 161 and head south on hwy 220. That'll take you to the outskirts of State College. Then get on 322 and it'll take you in to town.

While there, eat at the famous "Quaker Steak and Lube", and the one-of-a-kind (ok, there's three of em, but they're only in State College) Waffle Shop. On many Saturdays, you'll find that the president of PSU is there enjoying breakfast as well.

Penn State is huge, has a good reputation (depending on the program), is also a party school, and is located in a gorgeous part of wonderful Pennsylvania, which I hope you will love. May I advise that you focus on your academic future? That is the way to make your college education of value. I am quite stunned that you have not found out more about Penn State since you were planning to move from one continent to another to attend there, but anyway, use this last time to check it out. As for transportation, you can take the Amtrak train from NYC to within 20 miles of State College, but it's not altogether clear to me from my quick research what's next. Please follow this link, however, which although designed for the disabled should help you as well. Good luck with your education at Penn State!

The main campus is actually in State College I think. I'm pretty sure it is in the middle of PA. University Park is the main campus.

It is located in State College, PA. That is almost exactly in the center of the state. ("Happy Valley" is just a nickname for the area.) Not hear Phila. at all. Check out the travel guides on their website:
