The Cubs have more than a chance, next year s finally here. With Soriano leading off and a healthy Dereck Lee and Aramis Ramirez behind him, the Cubs are going to be scoring a lot of runs.
With Zambrano anchoring the pitching staff they are looking good. Lilly should do better in the NL (and he was good in Toronto), Hill had a great second half and should do even better this year, and Marquis and Miller had good springs and should be back to their old dominant ways.
The bullpen is fairly good and when Wood comes back it will be even better. The question mark is Dempster, but if he struggles, I think Wood could be a great closer, he has the stuff, all he has to do is stay healthy.
Ohh and dont forget Pinnella, he really knows how to win.
Next year s here baby! Cubs all the way!!!

Yes the cubs were my pick to win the world series over the yanks. The Cubs proved last year that they could beat the cardinals, the only team that stands in the cubs way to win the division is the reds and I think that they'll run into problems. In the world series the lovable losers will win the series in seven games against the hateable winners. Cubs vs. Yankees

I said before the season started that the Cubs will win the division. The are the best team in the NL Central. Once they make the playoffs anything is possible. Just look at the Cardinals last season. They were 83-78 and ended up winning the series. The Cubs are more than capable of winning 90 plus games this year.......and will.

The Cubs spent a lot of money in the off season in hopes of winning it all this year, so they have a chance. The central is weak this year, which helps their odds, but as all Cub fans know the key to success will ultimately fall on the pitching staff. Zambrano will be a Cy Young candidate, but the bull pen will probably struggle most of the year. As much as I hate to say it, without a healthy Wood and Prior, odds of going all the way are slim to none.

They have as good a shot as anybody to win the division now that they have Derrek Lee healthy. There is no dominant team in the central, and it is even more wide open now that Chris Carpenter got hurt. Then once the playoffs start, anything can happen. They've got the bats, the only question is whether any of the starting pitchers besides Zambrano can do anything. Lets Go Cubbies!

Yes, they have a chance. Furthermore, their starters are not as weak as many here are claiming. Obviously, Z is solid (except walks), Lilly will do well with the switch to the NL, and Hill looks to be developing nicely.Wuertz and Howry are decent mid relief. Dempster, well....
I don't believe Soriano will live up to expectations, but much like A-Rod, even a bad year from him is decent. If Lee and the rest stay healthy, they should be right there with as good a chance as any to win the pennant. World Series? I'd be surprised....but I was surprised when "my" Red Sox won it in 2004 too.
Keep the faith!

They have a lineup with Aramis, Lee, Soriano. But they are the Cubs, remember? That fact alone is good for 10 more losses than any other team with similar talent. But joking aside, their starting pitching sucks. They aren't going to make the playoffs.

They Cant Pitch.. Beyond Zambrano, Who exactly is winning games for them in the Starting rotation and who is closing in the Pen, they Should hit, they have offensive players, but they have little pitching. And then they haveta get passed the Mets, who are EONS better than them in on offense, defense AND starting and Relief pitching. It is the rare team that can club its way to a World Series, and i dont think the Cubs are one of those Rare Teams.

I dont think the Cubs have any shot. While the NL Central is weak, their team is not good enough and after all, they are still the cubs, dont forget that.

They have a good team and I think will win the Central but their staff isn't strong enough to win in the postseason and i wouldnt like the ball in Ryan Dempsters hand with a one run game in the 9th in the playoffs.
