I'm with you. Lets just get out and let the Shiite and Sunnis fight it out; why should we care how many people die? I mean, after all, we could start concentrating on really important stuff like reality shows or who will be the next president; as if that will make any difference to the working class!

Yikes! That awful word "they" again. We use it, and so do most other countries when referring to each other.

The only problem is that there is no "they". Just look around the US, for instance. Does everyone agree on what should be done and what they want? Not on your life.

Some Iraqis want us to leave, and some don't. Their reasons are so complex, and are rooted in so much more than most of us have a clue about.

Many would say that we shouldn't be there in the first place. Americans themselves argue whether we should be there, or if we should have gone there in the first place, etc etc.

So I think perhaps you are lumping all people in Iraq into the convenient term "they". "They" are as diverse in their opinions and ideas about what their country should do and be like as we are "over here".

As for the free speech aspect...... look at us, for crying out loud.. You can assemble and say anything you like here, but you'll have people who ignore you, many who don't even know you have demonstrated at all; others who get pissed off at you, and just occasionally.....you might get listened to.

But the odds of the last happening are no greater here than they are in Iraq, so I think your sarcasm was really misplaced and uncalled for.

The slam dunk mission has been accomplished for quite some time. They don't want us there they never have. We are seen as infidels on their sacred land. They have been solving differences between people in that part of the world for over 3 thousand years so I think they have had plenty of practice. The solution may not be to our liking but that is just too bad.

I think we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place, but that's what our pussy of a president wanted. I think our troops should be going after Osama and not Saddam because Saddam wasn't the cause of 9/11. We need to get out of Iraq so they can run their own country however they want.

'Leave' you are so optimistic my friend. All the Iraqi people wanted was a timetable and his Excellency president Bush said no way forget it dears.

I can tell you from experience that the South Koreans protest the US being in their country two or three times a month...why are you not pushing for us to get out of Korea?

probably a good thing too. sounds like GWB is going to be arrogant enough to veto the money he asked for and with any luck, Reid and Pelosi will say "we gave you money and you turned it down, guess you'll have to fund this year out of pocket."
