I know alot more people prefer a gyno but I am going to my family practitioner throughtout my whole pregnancy. I am very comforatable with her and she has delivered many many babies (including my 18 year old brother and 16 year old twin sisters). I know some people like the gyno bc they deal with that daily where as a family practioner deals with lots of other things, but I really like our family practioner and she knows what she is doing. Good luck!!

It depends if your insurance requires a referral or not. With my insurance, I need to get a positive pregnancy test by the doctor prior to seeing the OBGYN. Even for regular gynecological visits, I need a referral from my primary care manager (general practitioner).

First of all, wait until you have a positive home pregnancy test.
Then, call and make an appointment with an OB/GYN. They usually don't even see you until after about 8 weeks, because so many women miscarry in the early weeks.
Good luck!

If you have taken a pregnancy test that has indicated that you are pregnant then it is definitely the time to make an appointment. If you have not taken a test yet then I would do that first. Get a two pack test so you can test twice. Good luck!

first of all i think you should take a pregnancy test. then watch for the symptoms sleeping all the time, having an appetite, grouchy, watch to see if your menstrual was very different from how they usually are an if you are having these symptoms then maybe it's time to make an appointment with you doctor.

If your regular doctor confirms the pregnancy, you'll have to go to an OB anyway to re-confirm it and start your pre-natal care. So, the OB could save a trip.

See your family doctor first then go to an obstetrician/ gynecologist. Usually they require a referral first.

If you are looking to just confirm your pregnancy, either one can do that for you. For ongoing care if you are pregnant, you should see an OB/GYN or a midwife.
