Bush inviting Dems to meet about Iraq

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush on Tuesday invited Democrats to discuss their standoff over a war-spending bill, but he made clear he would not change his position opposing troop withdrawals.
The White House bluntly said the meeting would not be a negotiation. "It's time for them to get the job done, so I'm inviting congressional leaders from both parties - both political parties - to meet with me at the White House next week," Bush said in a speech to an American Legion audience in Fairfax, Va.

As to getting to the truth behind anything this Administration wants to vigorously accomplish--follow the money.

Look at who this Administration has financial ties with. Where the majority of the Republican's Campaign contributions come from. Look at the legislation that benefit's these entities and "Wallah"--your answer becomes perfectly clear.

Big Oil, Defense Contractors and all the other Multi-national Conglomerates are depending on Bush to keep this war going full steam ahead. They are making Billions and with no end to the war in sight, they can only gain from the status quo. Throw in the approval of the Oil Production agreements and it's like a dream come true for the Warmongering Neo-cons. Why else would Bush and his minions say "anything" and "everything" under the sun to keep this insanity going?

Bush preyed upon our Patriotic beliefs of "American Prowess" to a "T" to get us in there. He whole heartedly fooled this country into believing that a "tactic" could be defeated through military might. The whole objective was to just get in there--and once the ball started rolling, the planned chaos is serving it's purpose. And in the end, no matter how you slice it--we the people are the losers.

I can't believe you used "Bush" and "Compromise" in the same sentence! Of course not. He wants to push them into doing things his way more quickly, by whispering the "big secret" into their ears that the situation is more desperate than anyone knows. He'll probably even go so far as to tell them that if they don't approve his spending bill some of our soldier buddies might not get paid, or might not be able to get meals or bullets. That seems to be the way he gets things done- If behaving like a schoolyard bully doesn't work, rumormongering and scare tactics are always phase two. I can't believe how excited I am about upcoming elections!

He has to veto the bill to move on (that's the process).

Meeting with Dems needs to be done as well for the public to see whether the Dems are just interested in the politics or in actually supporting US troops who are in harm's way.

the meeting is so GWB can explain why he needs to have a clean bill brought before him to sign, "get the picture?". He made it clear that this was not for negotiations.
Hopefully, Reid and Pelosi will explain to him that "you have your money, either take it or forget it; get the new picture?".
