Throughout our brief history as a country, we have engaged in conflict with "aggressors" that have been viewed as infringing on our rights and freedoms- both as a country and as individuals- and/or those of our allies, again both as a country and as individuals. Looking specifically at some of the major conflicts of the past WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the first Persian Gulf War, even the Texas War for Independence, this holds true. The view is that without those confrontations and military involvement a "freedom and way of life" would have been altered or completely eliminated. Some of that holds true, esp. if Hitler wasn't stopped, or all of Korea could be communist now, etc.
Tying all of that together to answer your question: we had to fight in order to maintain our perceived freedoms and our armed forces were an integral part of that. The Bush administration says we are fighting to protect "our freedom and way of life" in the Global War on Terror, which the War in Iraq is a part of. You can see the impact that 9/11 had on this country and the world from many aspects- economically, socially, politically. We have the belief that democracy and all that is entailed with that form of government is right and all citizens should have the opportunity to enjoy its benefits. The belief is if we lose Iraq, those who are against us and our way of life will gain a foothold in an already tumultuous part of the world and the possibility- and in my opinion the reality- of potential strikes against our freedom and our country will increase.

We are free because people paid for our freedom. In order to maintain that freedom wars must be fought. I can say that because I have numerous family and friends in the military, many who are and have been in Iraq. The only war that made us free is the Revolutionary War. Our constitution protects those freedoms and sometimes in order to maintain those freedoms we have to bend the constitution. If we weren't in Iraq right now the terrorists would be over here wreaking havoc. And while I would give anything to have my fiance home I believe that there is good happening over there, because he has told me so. This war is helping maintain our freedom it isn't giving it to us. And as long as we have brave men and women defending our freedom we will remain free, and yes I do feel safer. I do not agree with all of Bush's policies, and I think we need to start pulling our troops out. But I do feel safer.

You are right about the Clinton Bush comment you made. No, I don't believe I am free 'cause of the army being in Iraq. I feel I am free 'cause of that document that a group of men wrote a long time ago. Nobody can remember it's name obviously if they are taking freedoms away from us left and right. Ex: trying to ban trans fat. shouldn't we be allowed to eat anything that we want?!?!

If our government stopped helping oppressed foreign peoples, whether you like the war in Iraq or not, we would begin to lose our political, economical, military, etc. dominance in the world. We'll become one of those countries that needs help from other countries. When they help us, we become indebted to them. Think about that -- are there any countries that don't fall into either the "helped" or "helper" roles? Korea doesn't count.
PS. We're not free because of an F-ing document. We're free because there are men and women that broke their government's laws when they became too controlling and gave up their lives to combat a tyrannical government. If we were unable to do that, we would have wanted help from other countries. In today's society, that's what happens. The Iraqi people are like the colonial citizens of early America.

Regardless of whether or not our military is in Iraq, America is free. We didn't go into Iraq to make the US free. We were free before that war happened. And Bush still doesn't suck.

The battle isn't weakening America. Hate is. Publically criticizing our president is. Dividing and protesting and no longer giving a rattling what the arena, peculiarly our enemies, feel folks. How is it that you simply feel you or me or every other personal citizen is aware of the level of what you declare on your declaration? How are you aware what Osama Bin Laden is doing? Furthermore, he was once doing simply what you defined as much as nine/eleven and had been were not at battle with Iraq. How are you aware that the Iraqis do not wish us over there? And no, the Iraqi humans didn't assault us. We aren't combating Iraqis. We are protective and making an attempt support the Iraqi humans. We are combating Insurgents that are in most cases terrorist from Syria and Iran. Terrorist who had been being funded by means of Sadaam are not. More residents have the fundamental utilities now than they did earlier than the battle. Children are in college and no longer in prisons or coaching for Sadaam. The Kurdish humans have long past from exile of their possess nation, killed and mutilated by means of the hundreds of thousands, to honestly having a aspect within the army. These are humans who earlier than the battle were not allowed to keep a task, who needed to rely most effective at the meals and items they might furnish for themselves since of the unfairness in opposition to them. Instead of Iraqi oil cash getting used to fund American deaths or cast gold bathtubs and different extravagance for the Husseins and Sadaam's cohorts, it is feeding the residents and making improvements to the nation's infrastructure. And were you aware that a few of our army medical professionals deal with deficient Iraqis who've not ever had any form of scientific concentration? Maybe rather of Democrats wishing for the worst and taking best delight in shouting dying numbers, propaganda to position worry and unease within the nation, and if all sides give up looking to browbeat every different to submission, we will have to pay attention to getting the process performed and getting residence. The longer Congress vs. the Bush Administration is going on, the longer we will be in Iraq. It's time to set apart delight, variations, and political events and conclude the process we began after which we will cognizance on different matters.

What are you ...12? You have no clue to what freedom is or isn't. We are fighting 2 wars and this country has not been put out one flippen iota. You are just another spoiled ignorant self centered fool who is all about yourself. You need to look at the big picture. That will require you to put the mirror down and look around and do some research.
