CONFUSED AND DISCOURAGED

Hi,
I signed up for twoweekwait, thinking that I was pregnant, but it was a false alarm. I am writing now for advice or to see if anyone could relate to what I have to say.

My mom's Pregancy When She Carried Me:

My mom told me that she went to the doctors office due to crucial leg pains and the doctor insisted that she was pregnant, but my mom denied it and agreed to take a pregnancy test just to satisfy the doctor and it returned negative. He told her to come back on the next week and they would test again. She came back and took three more test that all said negative. The doctor was still insisting that either she was pregnant or something seriously wrong was going on. So, he sent her to get an ultra sound and sure enough she was 8 months pregnant. My mother had her menustral cycle every month and I am her 8th born child, so there was nothing out of the norm that would make her think she was pregnant. Two weeks later I was born.

Now, my situation, I have been married for 4 months and when I was married I was a virgin. (I don't know if that is important or not) I have been having irregular cycles all of a sudden, over 15 years of my life I knew exactly when my cycle was coming on. I have been throwing up when my cycle is on and barely feel like I am going to live. I did not even have a cycle in January or February 2007, but when I took the home pt it was a negative and then my cycle came on in March. I have absolutlely no idea what is going on with my body. I wanted to know if anyone has heard of anything like this or know what I should do. I am trying to avoid the doctor until I am covered on my husband's insurance. I have gained weight only in my tummy area and I am even getting a dark line down the center of my belly. My mom and husband think that I am pregnant. Honestly, I have no idea what is going on with me and I am scared to death, because I have never had anything like that to happen to me.

I am willing to listen to any suggestions! thanks for listening!

It's sounds like you could be. As far as waiting until you are covered on your husband's ins to see the doc:
1. If you live in the US, it is illegal for an insurance company to classify a pregnancy as a pre-existing condition. Even if you are 9 months pregnant when you are finally covered and have been seeing a doc the whole time the ins co has to cover the delivery if you have maternity coverage. Don't let that fear keep you from getting care.
2. You also can see a midwife. She can do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy, and many have contacts with a sonographer or have access to a sonogram machine to do a visual confirmation. It will cost you out of pocket if you don't have ins, but seeing a midwife is much less expensive than paying cash for a doc's visit.

Ok things were one way for a while and now that you are intimate it's throwing everything out of wack. Sometimes you can get symptoms of pregnancy on your period because they are pretty much the same that is why we as women never know if we are or not. If you have an irregular cycle you should go to your gynecologist. I am not sure if you are trying to get pregnant or not, but an irregular cycle is a definite sign of a hormonal balance which normally taking birth control can regulate. Also you should get a pap smear once a year past eighteen or once you lose your virginity whichever comes first. That way they can monitor the regularity of your period and prevent any future issues.

You should go to the doctors as soon as possible because you might be like your mother who kept getting a negative test. Ask for a blood test to see if your pregnant they are more accurate and ask for an ultrasound and make sure you let your doctor know about the situation with your mother. Good luck with everything.

I also had a friend that she took hpt and they all came back neg. but she took a blood test and it came back positive. so yes you very well could be pregnant i would go to the doctor asap o yeah if you don't get a period this month then i would go.

I used to be precisely four weeks pregnant. I discovered the day my interval must have began. Normally I could have waited, however anything did not believe proper so I took a experiment. I am now 21 weeks three days w/ child a million.

Considering what your mom went through, instead of wasting money on tests, go to the doctor for an ultrasound. You can also have your blood drawn too. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

I understand that you are waiting for insurance to kick in, but isn't your baby a well spent investment? You need to have an ultrasound, which will definitely prove if a baby is in there. It sounds like it may take some time for the hormone to show up in your system.

Do not wait to get on your husbands insurance!!! Get to the doctor. You sound very pregnant, but if you are still having a period something could be wrong with the fetus!!!Please take my advise and let me know the outcome.

you just got married and began having sex. this is normal. sex adds new hormones to the system that sends everything haywire. see your doctor about it and he will give you some birth control. in a few months everything will settle back down and get more normal this happens to all of us when we begin having sex
