The Gestapo chief was willing to send the father home if he would give his word to not " Cause any more trouble." What was the Fathers Awnser. Why do you think he responded as he did? What do you think your response might have been?

He said that he could only do what was right and would always say only what was in accordance with his beliefs. Of course this immediately put him in jeopardy of his life. It is a very scary thing to put ones faith above ones life. I am not sure how I would respond, it would probably not be decided until I was put in that position. I'd like to say that I would always be truthful to my faith, but the reality is, I also value my life so I might not be willing to risk death.
