Hate to tell you but it is already $3.39 here in Ca where I live.

I remember the Dems promising this would be solved...but they are too busy doing things that they know are a waste of time and undermining American policy.

They would rather spend time doing countless investigations into Bush knowing he has not broken any laws.

Face it the Dems will NEVER do any of the talking points they claimed they would do in the election campaigns.

Here is a novel idea...people stop bi***ng about it and do something
-Carpool
-don't drive two blocks to take your kids to school
-ride public transportation
-stop complaining all the time
-boycott gas stations
-STOP DRIVING SUVs
-get a hybrid

I can say all that stuff because I practice everything on there except the whole tree hugging hybrid thing. I have only seen one person that I know drive one that is not an extreme environment loving freak. I drive...get this...what I can afford to drive.

Most people don't realize that the price of gas, while directly affected by the cost of crude, is only a small percentage of the overall cost increase.

In 1997 crude oil prices averaged about $27 per barrel at the well head but interestingly enough, because of better reclamation processes the average cost of crude in 2006 is around $28 per barrel. In 1988 it was at $42 per barrel. (history and analysis of crude, James L. Williams)

So obviously somebody is making a larger percentage of profit on the oil that is pumped. Who could that be? Well, the owners of the oil have increased their share, refineries, wholesalers, transportation and retailers and lets not forget the federal government who have raised taxes on the purchase of oil.

CBbrown122 you forgot the most important; quit taking vacations or going to see reletives during holidays. Most people can easily take off a day or two through the year where they could go and visit the folks they really don't like anyway. I never could understand why people did stupid things like travel on Memorial Day or fly during Thanksgiving and Christmas! Also, hybrids have not shown to really save any evergy at all but I agree with the others. Course, poor folks can't afford the cars that use less gas because the car companies and dealorships are good at making money also.

I guess just about anybody can blame whoever they want; my question is, have you got any idea at all what you are talking about?

The fact that gas is taxed at such a large rate is due to tax increases by the Dems but the rise in oil that translates to an increase in the cost of gas is not the fault of the Dems. The reason is that the gas companies are in business to make money and they are good at what they do. Memorial day is one of the biggest travel days of the year so demand for gas is increased. When demand goes up and supply stays the same or gets lower prices go up. Economics 101 applies to the energy world just like it does in any other business.

Sure, just after they give the oil companies a few more tax exemptions. Anyone wonder why when the cost of oil per barrel goes down the price at the pump stays the same but the minute the cost of oil goes up they are changing the signs in the gas stations? As long as Republicans have their way no one will ever investigate the oil companies and their windfall profits.

No, Democrats ain't all that bright. When you're done LYFAO and have the time to engage your brain, I'd like you to concentrate really hard and read really slow to see if you can figure this one out:

1.) The price of crude oil is dropping

2.) The price of gasoline is going up

3.) Iran produces lots and lots of crude oil

4.) Iran has no gas refining capability

5.) Iran is not cooperating with the West

6.) Therefore the West is putting Iran in the hurt locker with inflation rates reaching 60%

Do you get the picture now?

Both are to blame.

We need to get rid of the internal combustion engine, it has been obsolete for 50 years, but the big Oil tycoons and Auto makers have us by the neck and won't let go, we have the techonolgy to make a 454 engine get a 100 miles per gallon, but the Oil people won't let us do it.

The democrats are the ones that have the majority in Congrees and the Senate, so its only fair if they get the blame. Besides, we wouldn't have to rely on foreign oil if the greenpeacers & liberals wouldn't worry so much about "global warming" and "using up our vast resources of oil in Alaska and other states."

The truth is its the democrats fault. If Republicans had their way we'd have new refineries in the US. We have not built a single oil refinery here for nearly 30 years? That is the liberal democrats fault because they constantly oppose new industry, growth and positive development. In California the liberals created rules that require 3 reformulations of fuel each year for the "environment." This can't be done for free; it raises our cost of fuel. Thank you DEMOCRATS = IDIOTS

Who else is there to blame? The Dems run Congress... why can't they do anything about it???

Oh, that's right - they are too busy on flying around on publicly funded jumbo jets and going on international junkets doing illegitimate negotiations with foreign powers, or passing non-binding resolutions...

Again I'll say Al Gore.

Many Demcrats are for raising oil prices because of Global Warming. I say it's because Hillary wants to cease them if she wins in 08'. Time to open your eyes... We lose no matter who wins after Bush is out of office.
