(2/3)x + 4 = (3/4)x + 2

12(2/3)x + 12(4) = 12(3/4)x + 12(2)

8x + 48 = 9x + 24

8x + 48 - 8x = 9x + 24 - 8x

48 = x + 24

48 - 24 = x + 24 - 24

24 = x

(2/3)x + 4 = (3/4)x + 2

Multiply everything by 12 to get rid of the fractions
8x + 48 = 9x +24

Isolate x [subtract 8x from both sides, subtract 24 from both sides]
48 = x + 24
24 = x

so x = 24

-2 -2
2 = 1/12x
-1/12 -1/12
24 = x

(2/3)x + 4 = (3/4)x + 2
(2/3)x + 4-2 = (3/4)x
(2/3)x + 2 = (3/4)x
2 = (3/4)x - (2/3)x
2 = (9/12)x - (8/12)x
2 = (1/12)x
2*12 = x
x = 24
