Yes, there is an extra fee of $2.40 for certified mail. If you want a return receipt, that's additional.

It'll cost you around $5.00. See the link below, you can even print your postage and you receipt on line.
If you would rather, you can handle the transaction at your local post office.
$2.40 certified fee
$1.75 return receipt fee
.39 $ letter postage

Yes, you take your letter to the post office for registering and the cost is only a few dollars.

I'm not sure what the cost is now...but about 10 years ago, it was just a couple of dollars....but no telling what it is now.
