I have no agenda against Mormons or Jehovah Witness.
The problem is that I have a no soliciting sign on my door and yet they still knock.
When I point at the sign, I either get of we didn't see that. It's at eye level...
Or "we aren't soliciting, were spreading the good news.." (blah, blah)
I heard of a guy doing this to keep telemarketers away and I think it worked for him. Not exactly the same situation, but here's my idea.
Put a sign on my door (below the "No Soliciting" sign) that reads in effect that violations will result in a fee of $50 for my time.
Anyone ever try this or know about it? can it actually work?

ditto:
If they walk away, then the sign does what it's designed to do.
If they violate my terms to coming to my door. I enforce it in small claims court.
All I want to know is if it's enforceable.

Probably not. I answer the door naked. That usually does the trick.

No, a householder with a "No Soliciting" sign has no civil recourse against a visitor intending to discuss political, social, or religious matters. In the United States, "free speech" protects non-commercial door-to-door canvassing.

The best thing would probably to say No Soliciting and No Mormons, JW etc. Thanks, but No Thanks. You could put a No Trespassing sign up. If you would have one of those signs up on your property and they came any way, my guess is that you would have to right to call the police.

The best way to learn what to do to stop JWs is to contact a synagogue and talk to the Rabbi.

Ask him how the ancient Jews got rid of the Christian Jews when they went from house to house telling their brethren that the beliefs, rituals, and holiday observances that they have followed for hundreds of years was no longer valid?

I’m sure they had ways to get rid of the Jews, who from their point of view, was a cult started by a Uneducated, Jewish Lower Class Carpenter, who was executed for cause by the governing authority. The only education he got was from his low class parents, Mary and Joseph. These followers were also uneducated Jewish lower class individuals, such as Peter, a failed fisherman, and Matthew, a hated tax collector.

Lacking any kind of education, let alone advance religious education, it was clear they were easily brainwashed into believing that the uneducated ex-carpenter was somehow the Messiah, which was clearly false as it was commonly known that when the Messiah came, he would destroy (Armageddon) the enemies of the true people of God, as foretold.

Saul of Tarsus, a highly educated individual in the religious arts, repeatedly proved they were a false religious sect and cult, creating their own scriptures (Bible) instead of relying on the Holy Torah, which had been used by the Jews for hundreds of years. Saul often stood by as the true believers of God stoned these so-called Christians for their door to door activities and spreading of false doctrine.

Now, I would not recommend stoning, but they may have had other methods that worked to stop the house to house work and the spreading of false doctrine . What worked for them against the Christian cult may work against the JWs. At least you will be in good company in doing so.

Well a more polite thing would be to give examples of what you consider soliciting at the bottom of the sign.

Here's my question, If they hand you the $50.00 are you then going to stand there and listen???

They are not soliciting so they would not be liable under this. Soliciting is selling not asking for donations or spreading religious word. it would not be effective.

Hahaha good, you are fortunate I bet. Mormon missionaries come to my condo always. They have dinner with us as soon as every week. And the JWs exhibit up generally... constantly early mornings, dang it. BUT the opposite 50% of me lives in dorms and Mormon missionaries or JWs by no means ever ever exhibit up there so I bet you are sort of no longer the one one :)

Actually, I am of the Assembly Of God Faith and have an Assoc. Degree in Biblical History, when they come to my door, it takes a while for them to leave, and when they do, they end up going back to their Church with a lot of Questions about their faith that will be difficult to answer.
I like it when they come, but it only happened once, because they know not to come to my house anylonger

Just how do you enforce your "FEE" then?
surely they would just say er; "no", and walk away?
