why cant they combine the two? or make an attachment? does it have something to do with how the information is save since (i think) IPOD info is transfered from an existing location while pictures need to be done faster?

A 40gb ipod has a miniature hard drive in it. Digital cameras use flash memory cards - solid state memory chips. As to why no one has made a camera with a hard drive - only the camera manufacturers can answer that question. ( although I doubt many people would need to have 40gb of storage on camera for their pics.)

ipods all except shuffles use a Minny hard drive .. shuffles still use a memory chip ..
Where as you camera uses a memory card ..
This is done so you can remove the card from your camera and still store your pictures on it .. On an Ipod once you have your library loaded you don't have to remove it ..
The camera card can be hooked up to your computer with a card reader or some printers have card readers on them so you don't even need a computer to print them also you can pull your card take it to a photo shop and they will make prints for you ..
There are hard drives small enough to fit into a camera but that is not a good thing .. you can remove a card and store it or use many cards to keep your pictures on but if lets say your drive messes up on the camera then all your pictures are lost .. and of course not to mention the fact that you would need a few more batteries to keep it all working ..
Also the camera's ould have to be bigger and bulkier to compensate for the extra circuitry needed to store pictures on the drive ...

An ipod has an actual hard drive. A memory card is like a disc, they can only hold so much space.
