In 2014 NASA will send human expedition toward the Mars. They're first task is to install necessary equipments and one or two plastic tents under wich will exsist air conditions as here on the Earth and where will be set some plants and vegetables needed for production of the oxygen. It will be beginning of restoration of the conditions what are similary as here on our Planet. If you want to read more about this search veradisca and read it on one very interesting site. Best Regards, Neven.

If, by your use of the word "we" in your sentence, you mean the average Joe & Jane citizen, then "no". Such a move would only be for the extremely powerful, connected, beautiful, wealthy peoples of the world. Once the understanding was fairly solid that we are actually very close to destroying our world, then the people listed above would set-up a program for their survival. The public at large would be kept in the dark until the very last minute, possibly even longer. The end of our world may be in a huge explosion, but more likely it will be a fairly slow, painful poisoning of the world. Imagine just how complicated it would be to either "take everyone", "take everyone that wanted to go", "take only those that would be useful to build another civilization", or a lottery to take a dozen or so "average people" to do the menial chores for the powerful. Scientists, chefs, beautiful, smart breeder material, entertainers, the religious leaders, and some engineers. No rif-raf need apply.

We won't "destroy" the earth.
We probably will overpopulate it. We might cause some mass extinctions of plants and animals. It looks like we're current causing a climate change which will have serious repercussions. But those will neither destroy the planet, destroy all all life on the planet, nor destroy the human race.
But if we continue on the path we're on, it's going to get alot worse before we can advance to a technological level that would allow inter-solar and inter-stellar colonization.

I will answer your question in two parts:
1. Yes, we are destined to live on other planets. The number of habitable planets exists in great numbers...we assume. (See Drake Equation).
2. We won't destroy this planet. Even if we nuke the planet 1000 times over, we cannot destroy this planet...as the planet will eventually heal itself and life will tend to move on (albeit if we nuke the planet in such a fashion, we humans may not exist after such a calamity).
Hope this helps....

No.
People may live on other planets in the future, but not all people.
We will never destroy Earth.

I detest pessimism.
We will eventually live on other planets, but the Earth will not be
destroyed.

Who can say what the destiny of humanity is?
While I agree we really couldn't "destroy" Earth, we could sure make it largely uninhabitable for a good long time.
It may, after all, ( and wouldn't that be the irony of ironies ), if it came down to being called 'mostly harmless.' ?
