Can anyone help. We have a property in Turkey with a Jacuzzi bath and wall mounted air conditioning units. We do not go to the property throughout the winter months, and we would like to find out a way that we can make these appliances safe from legionaires disease.

Can anyone offer any safe cleaning suggestions.

Thanks very much

You can either use a commercial cleaner, or the old stand by, Chlorine bleach.

For the AC, I would set up a spray for the coils using 1/4 part either lemon juice, or vinegar and 3/4 water. use that to clean out the minerals. After the coils are clean, use a solution of 20 drops bleach to 2 cups water to flush it out.

For the Jacuzzi, after it is clean, do a "shock" treatment using your pool chlorine. Then flush it and bring everything to normal.

Legionaries thrives in the unused hot legs of plumbing/
when you turn on the water it sprays out, becoming the point of infection.
I would drain the system whenever you leave a place for extended periods. Turn off the water heater also.
Always flush out lines with cold water.
You can use a mixture of RV antifreeze and water and run it thru your jacuzzi prior to draining it.
A/C isn't a problem.

The previous answerer just gave an ad for Biker people, so several of us hit "abuse" and hopefully someone who knows the answer really will write.

What about gallons of bleach? Don't know how it would clean the vents. . .

Good luck.
