It is not vital that you take them. I didn't take them every day when I was pregnant with my daughter and she turned out perfectly healthy and we had no complications with her birth. Just make sure that you are eating healty!
That being said, there are many brands of vitamins out there and if you try some different things, you may find some that don't make you sick. Get in touch with your doctor and see if there are any other brands that he will recommend or prescribe.
Congratulations and good luck!

Folic acid is important for brain development, so I would say it's extremely important!
Have you tried asking your doctor for a different prescription or getting some over the counter prenatals? Sometimes you have to try a few before you can find one you can handle.
There are other ways of getting folic acid, like green leafy vegetables, but the vitamin has a great deal of additional nutrients that are important for your baby. Also, you may try taking your vitamin right before bed, then you don't have to deal with the nausea part of it.
Good luck, don't give up!

I would definatley call the doc. Folic acid is very important, not getting sufficient amounts can lead to certain defects in the child. Another way to get folic acid is to eat lots of leafy greans and other vegetable that contain large amounts. Never take your vitamins on an empty stomach, and try not taking them with acidic things like th eOJ and other juice.
Ginger ale soda is really good for upset stomach, Canada Dry ginger ale is the sweetest one, but the rest are all good once you get used to the flavor! Also Jamba Juice used to sell a drink that the pregnant women would rush for, carrot ginger juice (I worked there!)...They don't make it anymore but if you have a juicer you can make it at home, they all swore that it stopped their morning sickness, plus it's really good for you!
Take your pill after dinner before bed... Try saltine crackers ...Have a few crackers (they are really dry) Then take your pills with either water or ginger ale! I can't promise anything but its wortha shot!
Lets put it this way, that if you can't keep the vitamins in orally, the doc with give them to you another way...Rectally!!! They are very important...I wouldn't worry too much so far but I would try to correct this problem as soon as possible!!! For you babies health and yours!!!

The rules for having a healthy baby change all the time when expecting my 1st 16yrs ago I was told not to take any vitamin supplements and to eat liver as it was good for the baby. Three years later and no. 2 dont take vitamins and do not eat liver as harmful to baby. My youngest is 2 this time its no soft cheese not soft ice cream no liver, take folic acid and vitamins. But the good news is they all turned out perfect healthy babies, so dont stress a good healthy diet is the only important thing as well as a stress free mum.

Talk to your doctor, there may be a different type of prenatal that you can take.
I was horrible nauseous and while I didn't throw the pills up the docs still had me on a different vitamin for a couple of weeks, that had different ingredients that were more easily tolerated. Maybe that is what you need.
Also I thought I read about a coated prenatal that didn't give you that awful taste which was for me what caused me to be sick to my stomach after taking it.
But they are a very important part of the pregnancy. Speak with your doctor and see what you can do.
Good Luck

Well, can you take a regular vitamin, or maybe ask the pharmacist if there is a liquid supplement you can take?
You can also buy protein bars and stuff that taste really good and have folic acid in them. You can get folic acid from foods such as leafy greens, broccoli, beans, wheat germ, whole grains, peanuts, corn, oranges, and orange juice.

I think that it's very important to take the vitamins for the baby's development. Maybe you should talk to your doctor and see if there is a solution. It's possible that there is a vitamin out there that could bypass your gagging. Have you tried ginger ale? Also, you might try oyster crackers, which are like saltines, but smaller. What made me the most nauseous was when I was brushing my teeth. I bought "sensitive" toothpase (made for people with sensitive teeth) and it seemed to help. I wonder if you could grind them up and take them? Good luck!

Yes, they are needed but since they don't agree with your digestive system, try cutting them in half. The baby does need all the nutrients it can get and so do you during this time. If you can't tolerate them, try taking a good multi vitamin which may digest well. Something will be better than nothing. Good luck.

do the best you can. you are taking them and even though they are coming up, it is possible some of it is still in your system. talk to your dr. though he might have some suggestions.
have you tried eating saltine crackers after taking them to settle your stomache? try drinking it with sprite (but stir out all the bubbles-it always settled my stomache after hangovers, so it might work for morning sickness).
folic acid is essential all throughout pregnancy. i have heard from several places that it helps prevent nueral tube defects.
hope this helps. talk to your dr. though.
