This is tough question to answer!! Mainly because the teams that are fighting it out for the final are very gritty teams.
South Africa is a team which had broken a world record by chasing down a target of 434 set by Australia.
New Zealand is a team which had beaten Australia in the recent past thrice by chasing down a big target once (not that big as 434 but the target was 344 something), bowling out the Australian batting.
Sri Lanka is a team in which all the old players like Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vaas and Muthaiah Muralitharan are firing all their cylinders and making life easy for the rest of the players.
Last but not the least, Australia, the defending champions would be very tough to beat this time around as they are all attacking every other opposition. They might be following the old saying "ATTACK IS THE BEST POLICY OF DEFENCE".
But after all this, I think 2 teams namely Australia and New Zealand have the chances to win the World Cup.
But, I will personally support Team Australia to win the World Cup and mainly because of Punter (Ponting) and Pigeon (McGrath). Also, Churchy (Gilchricst) and Hulk (Hayden) could join the party.

There are a lot of team that have a good chance of winning the world cup. My top 5 teams that have a decent chance at winning are:
1. Italy: After winning the world cup in 2006 they certainly have a shoot at winning it again. You can't leave out the champs.
2. Brazil: Brazil has been known for being a power house when it comes to soccer. They have a lot of young talent and a lot of experienced players that can lead them to win the title once again.
3. Spain: The way spain has played in the last couple of world cup has definately disapointed many, including myself. Spain is one of the big European power houses that has a chance at winning it all. They like Brazil have a lot of young talent, but lack the experience that they need to win it all. Although, they have a new coaching staff that has a lot of experience in the fast paced european soccer.
4. Mexico; Mexico might be the surprise team that could win it all. Even though Mexico has never even made it to the semi-finals they have a lot of new upcomers that have already experience what it is like to win a World Cup. The Mexican Sub-17 won the world cup last year, and a lot of the players that played with the team, will be playing for the big cup. Also, don't forget about the new coaching staff, which is filled by Hugo Sanchez the five time number one scorer in the European Socer, who once played for Real Madrid.
5. Africa. Africa should not be left out they are the host the big party and as well all know the host always deserves a shoot at defending their house. I think that Africa has more than just a chance at winning it all. They are fast, and lately have been playing a lot smarter than what they used to.
All this five teams have a shot at winning the world cup.

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties, nothing can be predicted for sure about the outcome of a tournament in advance.
As it stands now Australia, New Zeland, Sri Lanka and South Africa have a chance to win the world cup. Whichever team plays better cricket consistently from now on, will be the ultimate winners.

hi Mr. Mukesh...I guess answer should be informative.
So...Take a breath & read this ...
its sorta sporty to read & understand this...
Cuz read like a man..(every Participant)
it's serious Question****
but a cool one
U jus have to concentrate on merits of a team
who gonna lift Coveted Cup..!
It's Lankans
They are devoted to it, not in a dutiful sort of way but more beholden by it: the game has given them too much,
they know, and they have to give back to it, they also know.
they want to lift the spirit of Cricket.
In odd ways it reveals itself. In the dance of the elderly,
for example: the oldest players in a line-up can often be the weakest links
but, when needed, they can also be the strongest. Muttiah Muralitharan, Sanath Jayasuriya
have not only scored and stopped runs and taken wickets when necessary,
Lankans have most vareid attack in this super-8
they show the uncanny.luck.. this time
it was there in 1996 cup too.
they have done it with the zest of men half their age and in their first internationals.
The contrast with the fallen heros.. from Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Inzamam-ul-Haq
and Mohammad Yousuf is stark. Sri Lanka have not only fielded better, they have enjoyed doing so much more.
Jonty Rhodes says that fielding should be fun and watching these two, you see the wisdom of simple words
Most vividly it can be seen in the field. Efforts in batting and bowling are often slave to situation and circumstance; pitch and weather conditions, chasing a big total, defending a small one, the form of key players. Fielding largely operates outside these confines and so is often a more accurate indicator of a side's mood and health.
Sri Lanka have not only fielded better, they have enjoyed doing so much more. Jonty Rhodes says that fielding should be fun and, watching these two, you see the wisdom of simple words. Conversely, Pakistan and India give the impression that fielding is as much fun as the ICC.
It's strange, in fact, how India and Pakistan resemble each other so.
On the field, there has been a spooky sameness; results and performances in South Africa were nearly identical, the Champions Trophy and World Cup, both failures.
Both batting line-ups struggle in alien conditions, as fielders both are poor and both leaders increasingly embattled and embittered. Both now rebuild.
In this world,if U R Indian Or Pakistani... how much could they have really enjoyed playing cricket when they know that failure, among other things, means hysterical reactions from fans and contract suspensions?
Their love of the Cricket game shouldn't be questioned but they walk the field burdened, their cricket joyless.
Sri Lanka either have no burdens or they have managed to put them aside.
They are floating in a rare time, in the midst of substantial development and progress and it shows.
It is inaccurate and hasty to talk of new standard-bearers.
Sri Lanka were world champions ten years ago and have long been a top side.
they have done the trick once & are capable of repeating it
Cuz After big brothers INDIA & PAKISTAN...
lankans & bangla are starring on the world biggest cricket Drama.
