I am gutted it's finishing tonight.
Can't wait for the 80's one!!
If it were possible...... Gene Hunt FOR PRIME MINISTER!!
I just sit there waiting for the next un-PC one liner from him.
Fantastic script and fantastic acting.
Thank you BBC for something of quality, and as much as I'd like it to continue, it's much better to have quality over quantity.

GUTTED, GUTTED, I don't know what the Hell I'm going to do.
It's a Sin them not making a 3rd Series.
I cannot remember a Programme I have loved so much for a long time, if ever. Life on Mars, has got it all, including a bloody ending which happens tonight, Gawd, tonight, I still can't beleive its allover tonight.
I hope Gene Hunt continues his role in another Series, as I aint had enough of him yet.

Yes I am ,what a brilliant show best thing on TV for years ,at last a show I had to rush home for now its all over .Great actors, great plot, great cars and some fantastic one liners, totally un pc its what TVs has been missing all these years. The line about being as quick as a spastic in a magnet factory had me in bits.TV bosses take note "this is what we want". More progs like this and ill never leave the house.I for one will miss Gene hunt and Dorothy.Definitely gonna be getting this on DVD .A classic .

I loved it! I loved the ending and i loved the twisting storyline tonight. The best thing the BBC has done in years. I am gutted that its over, but a storyline like that can get tired after too many series. I think they left it at just the right time, and with enough episodes to keep the viewer satisfied.
I shall be buying the DVDs though. It will make brilliant post-pub Saturday night watching!

Absolutely gutted mate.
It was a great show. Well thought out, well written, well acted, and well produced.
I think they're doing the right thing however, by going out on a high note.
Leave everyone wanting more. That way it will always be remembered as a great TV show and will become an instant classic.
I'm intrigued by this spin-off series however. I hadn't heard about that. I'm off to look into it now.

Excited anticipation, but sad it's finishing. Best to go out on a high!
drjaycat: Robert is Philip's (Gene Hunt) brother...
both excellent actors, as is John Simm.
John and Philip have appeared in several dramas on TV
Clocking Off and State of Play being two of them...

Yep, its a great series. This one is not quite as good as the first (in the way he now keeps 'bumping into people from his life in the 1970's') but its still FANTASTIC !!!!!
I hope that they do go ahead with the spin off series, there is certainly a following and Gene Hunt is a great character. There is so much potential. If they do it I just hope that he comes to PRESENT day - Can you just see Gene Hunt walking into modern day police station slapping the Female Superintendent on the backside and saying 'Oi Melons! Get us a cuppa tea, milk two sugars. bring it down to the cells, I'm gonna knock seven shades of s**t out of that scroat who mugged that old granny' ?????

Yes I love it. However, I am glad that it is ending on a high rather than getting to the boring stage that a lot of programmes get to.
I think Gene Hunt is brilliant and would love to see him in a spin off. Someone said on here a couple of weeks ago it would be great to see him being transported to just now!!! That would be hillarious

Yes, can't wait for the "spin-off" - Gene Hunt goes down to the corrupt "Met" in the early 80's.
PS. Can't wait to see what kind of ****-up the Americans make of rewriting and casting Life on Mars - they are not known for their subtlety!
NB. The above got auto-censored because I typed the phrase C-O-C-K-U-P (wasn't even F UP!)

Absolutely! The best series on TV for a long time......why do the powers that be in TV think that an endless diet of reality rubbish keeps us viewers happy....more of the type of series like Life on Mars would make for better TV all round.

Yeah... The episodes have been real good! But really I think that it would spoil it if they made more episodes since it would probably drag on! And yarr, I totally agree with you there, Gene Hunt is so hilarious! A great actor too! Can't wait until tonight :D
