the likes of al sharpton, jessie jackson, and julian bond should not hold his professional career in their hands. they are nothings and nobodies. they are race baiters and look to exploit any situation they can. imus said what he said. let market forces take care of him. either he will have driven advertisers and listeners away or he wont. let that decide his fate, not the stalinist justice that has taken over. besides, when can the rest be spared from the trash that the likes of pfdidys and cohorts spew? and sharpton, he is responsible for many deaths with his racist, hate filled remarks over the past few decades...... wheres the cry for justice there?

i admire the guy and his tutor( that's annoying capture right here on the West Coast, however, provided that's on from 3-6 interior the morning), yet what he suggested is annoying to guard. He noted as the Rutgers women's basketball group " a team of tough finding nappy headed ho's." He truly stepped over the line this time with a racial and sexually insulting remark. i do no longer think he's a racist, however. He basically spoke without understanding what he replace into asserting. It does gall me to work out human beings like Reverend Sharpton who're exposure hounds make political earnings out of this. Sharpton has made anti semitic comments interior the previous and has no room to criticize. i wish Imus can climate the hurricane. His is the only tutor that gets megastar politicians on evening after evening, like John McCain and Joe Biden. The air waves would be a duller place without him. Proctor and Gamble and Staples have the two pulled merchandising from the tutor, so this may be his undoing. everybody is speedy to decide and bounce on the bandwagon. Imus might desire to stay. we truly agree on some thing. What has long previous incorrect with the international?

I like the guy and his show( it is hard catch here on the West Coast, though, since it is on from 3-6 in the morning), but what he said is hard to defend. He called the Rutgers women's basketball team " A bunch of rough looking nappy headed ho's." He really stepped over the line this time with a racial and sexually insulting comment. I don't believe he is a racist, though. He just spoke without realizing what he was saying. It does gall me to see people like Reverend Sharpton who are publicity hounds make political gain out of this. Sharpton has made anti semitic comments in the past and has no room to criticize. I hope Imus can weather the storm. His is the only show that gets big name politicians on night after night, like John McCain and Joe Biden. The air waves will be a duller place without him. Proctor and Gamble and Staples have both pulled advertising from the show, so this could be his undoing. People are quick to judge and jump on the bandwagon. Imus should stay. We actually agree on something. What has gone wrong with the world?

Why is it that the likes of Cheney, Bush, et al, get a pass when they continuously do things to insult the intelligence of the American people? As an African American, at first I was upset at the comments Imus made about the women on that Basketball team. However, I was more upset that this administration is getting away with the worst kind of insults to ALL AMERICANS. These people get a pass from the media (for the most part) CONSTANTLY, while a real humanitarian, like Imus is held under a magnifying glass and has to apologize ad infinitum for a faux pas. How many faux pas has Bush made without one single mention of it from the press???? It boggles my mind!!!!

The only reason why Imus should be "witch hunted" (that's not even a word, but I digress) is to bring to light the absolute hypocrisy of the left! If a conservative radio host made those comments, he would have been tried, convicted, hung and quartered by now! Rosie defended the guy today ... would she have defended Rush's freedom of speech or ignorance if it were he that made those comments?

I believe he IS suffering public humiliation. The real question here is one of degree. How far does and should freedom of speech extend? Howard Stern left the public airwaves because he was consistently and extravagantly fined by FCC for various violations. Michael Savage was removed from FOX's cable network for his extremist (i.e., fascist) opinions.

In the realm of public airwaves, it is incumbent upon those broadcasting to be somewhat more responsible than those on cable and other private networks. The former are, after all, owned by the public and thus beholden to the public's general sensibilities regarding taste, topic, and language. They cannot and should not libel, threaten, or otherwise transcend legal limits on the first amendment.

Was Imus wrong? Yes. Is his suspension out of line? Probably not. Is the ridicule and humiliation deserved? Richly.

Political correctness has made witch hunting a national past time. The PC stormtroopers are always on the lookout for anyone who gives the slightest hint of racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, or racism (I said racism twice but they're really on the lookout for that). Imus is eccentric and not very entertaining, but better than a PC castrated commentator that some want you to exclusively hear.

The ironic thing is that the self appointed judges of Imus are have made more offensive statements in the past. You're right, in that the ultimate punishment will be from his listeners if they stop listening.

As far as McCarthyism, that's the halmark of liberalism. It happens all the time. Look at how the people who question the man made global warming myth are treated.

Anyone remember what happened to Howard Cosell after he called a black football player a "little monkey"? (Cosell's exact words were "Look at that little monkey run"! He was marveling at the player's speed. It could be argued that Cosell should have chosen his words more carefully, but the fact of the matter is he messed up on that occasion.) Not much of anything happened to him as a result of that. There was an uproar the day after the broadcast, but that was pretty much it.

He was suspended for two weeks.

Hardly a "life sentence".

Stop being such a drama queen.

P.S. "Try being a vocal GOP in Hollywood and get a job." You mean like Ah-nald? Try to think before you post.
