I have been with friends to different bars/clubs with expired licenses. The upscale clubs (Light, Tao, Tryst, Tangerine, Rum Jungle, Ghost Bar, etc) will care. Or at least they cared enough to not let my friends and I in when we tried it. One bouncer said he typically rips ID's up like when they're fake if they are expired. He was at Light.

I would imagine at local bars and clubs they wouldn't care.

The only thing your boyfriend needs is valid identification with proof of age.

I'm not clear on why your boyfriends drivers license expires, this isn't a normal thing is it? I don't recall mine expiring when I was 21.

Anyway, If his drivers license is expiring, find another form of identification. Passports, Student ID etc... If he has nothing, he's out of luck in the nightclub scene, as many require valid identification. If he looks under 30 he'll need a license, most clubs and bars will card.

A friend of mine who works at Pure Nightclub just confirmed he needs a "valid" ID - but even he questioned why the license expires, 21 isn't a magic number for expiration.

YES your license expires when you are 21 as most states now identify that you are "Under 21" on the license, sometimes is big red letters, and in michigan and some other states, minors actually have a vertically aligned license that changes to horizontally aligned when you turn 21 to prevent any "misinterpretations".

NO, most places, probably all casinos or clubs will NOT let you in with an expired license. a bad license is the same as no license at all. it is not a valid form of ID.

He needs to make time to renew his license or what's the point of going to Vegas? He won't be drinking that's for sure and probably not gambling either.

I'll bet he has no problem in the bars, but has more of a hassle in the airport when he shows I.D. He will be pulled aside for the individual pat-down. If not, airports are not doing there jobs. He needs current I.D. to travel.

I'd make time to renew the license. Many places won't take it.
