My husband was moving our shed last night and came across a nest of baby bunnies. They were hopping about with their eyes open, and seemed fine. We put them back when we were finished, and they are still there this morning, but no sign of mother. Are they old enough to fend for themselves, or should we be worried?

Just keep an eye on them sometime if you touched them the other will reject them now, I would watch them and use your best judgement

mother rabbits leave their young alone usually all day coming back once or twice to feed them. They are probably fine. The babies will nest there for about 28 days. If you have a dog though I suggest you cover the nest with a laundry basket while he is outside and chaperone him. I actually ran over a nest last summer with the lawn mower they were fine and the mom took care of them until they were ready to go. Now that spring is back it's cute to see them in the yard again, as adults.

To prevent attracting predators, a mother rabbit will usually avoid going to her nest more than every two hours. You can help the bunnies by keeping a close eye on them, but from a safe distance. The mother may be reluctant to return if she sees you walking around the nest.

If, after nightfall, you don't see the mother near the nest, and the babies health seems to be deteriorating, call a local wildlife rehabilitator. DO NOT attempt to retrieve the babies yourself unless they are IMMEDIATE danger. Baby bunnies are incrediably difficult to take care of and can die very easily from stress.

Information on what to do in case of orphaned or abandoned wildlife is provided on this wildlife rehabilitation website:

watch out for them..if the mother doesnt come back maybe they are abandoned..or maybe they are old enough. The only way to know is to call local animal services..but I would wait a day or two and see if the mom returns

Actually, this is normal. The mother only returns once a day to the nest to nurse her babies. Just leave them alone.

Wild bunny moms hide their little ones and come back several times a day to feed them. Unless you spent all night watching the babies, you probably just missed her (her object least she lead a predator to them). LEAVE THEM ALONE they are just fine.

cope with it as low as achievable. it ought to die of fright. yet once you progression it right into a small container the place it may cover below some grass( no longer something that smells of human) and you may can feed it canned milk otherwise this is going to probable die.

well make sure then have some food and water just in case the mom might and might not come back most likely she will just not when you are around she is tying to make you follow her so you wont see her babies to attack them

Wait a few days and if the mother doesn't return, BE WORRIED.
