Sounds like your regulator's putting out too high a voltage, to me. Check the charging voltage at high revs. If it's above 14V, there's your problem, get a new one.
Also check you're not boiling your battery dry.

Do you ride in the rain? I managed to let my headlight bezel get loose and the nacelle filled up with water! And I mean filled up! It was a few days after the rain when I managed to get a replacement headlight And water came streaming out! The plastic connector for the headlight was brown and melted and needed to be replaced, my front turn signals were also shot and needed new bases for the bulbs since they were to corroded for a good connection.
Mine is a '99 FXDWG. Regulator is factory and still OK, but not out of the question for them to go **** up. Usually it causes other problems also when it's the regulator.

If your headlight has burned out repeatedly then high voltage can't be completely ruled out as a possibility.
Check the voltage and replace the voltage regulator if your voltage reads too high.
But if your headlight it has only burned out one time and your voltage checks out to be ok then I would look for a short in the wiring.

voltage regulator on those bikes has been known to go south.
More likely to be an overactive charging system than a short, but I would not rule out that you may have 2 things going on.
Pull out the wiring diagram and voltage tester or drop her off at the shop.

Make sure you have good clean insulation on the runs / no melted together or scraped sections !

could be the switch lost powerto the turn signals but i don't know where
