Depends on your insurance.
We have Blue Cross with a 1,500 deductable and a 70/30 plan after that.
I have a seperate $1500 deductable for pre-natal appts. and a seperate $1500 for ER.
So I pay $3000 up front and then 30% of the remaining bill after that.
good luck! God bless!

That depends on your insurance and what you can & can't live with out...as far as baby stuff goes and how smoothly the prgnancy goes!?
You'll have the costs of:
*Co-pays
*Prenatal testing
(Gestational diabetes testing & other blood work...)
*Elective prenantal testing
( ex. Alpha Fetal Protien Test or AFP for short)
*Hospital fees
*Possibly anestheologist fees (make sure the anestesiologist is covered by insurance & or affiliated with the hospital... Mine wasn't and they didn't tell me until I questioned a $9500 bill that came after my epidural & emergency c-section!!! We fought & got it reduced but I still feel like they screwed us!)
*Baby gear (min. carseat & clothes & diapers)
*Baby Dr. visits & immunizations
There are always ways to cut costs. OPt for a midwife, and a home or birth center birth. They are usually safer & the risk of cesarean goes down considerably, which can be a huge unexpected cost!
Have a baby shower or buy second hand or get your freinds with kids to give you what ever their kids grow out of! However I would splurge on a car seat and stroller! The trick is to fond a car seat that will grow as your child does, so that you only have to buy one. They can use it from infnacy to childhood. Cosco makes a good one!
The rest should be under your insurance as far as testing (except elective testing which you don't have to do if you don't want) and the dr. visits & immunizations! You probably just have a co-pay.
The Bottome Line is that you can spend as little or as mush as you want you just have to decide what you can & can't live with out!

The only way you can know is to call your insurnace company.
Many have deductibles and then they also only cover a certain amount-- 80% is common for hospital portions, 100% for doctor's visits (although they do say "of the allowable amount" which can mean that you pay a portion over that).
My insurnace has a yearly cap of out of pocket expenses, so the most I'll pay is $2500 regardless of how high the hospital expenses go. I'm just planning on paying that rather than hoping it will be less.

In trying to remember, I think that most insurances pay 80 per cent, and you pay the additional 20 per cent. So you would need to ask the hospital what the cost is and you doctor should tell you what the out of costs will be for that service. Just call your insurance carrier and I am sure that they will be able to assist you with that information as well.

Well depending on what kind of insurance you have if you have to pay a deductible... you can end up paying up to $2000 for the birth and hospital stay. Or if you have state aid or something like that, I think they cover everything including hospital stay, birth and delivery. My friend had normal Blue Cross with Maternity coverage and she paid $1500 for everything, and the baby was covered for the first 30 days, until she could transfer him onto the policy.

Depends on what your deductible is.
Also, if you want to get detailed on "how much will it cost" there's some website that the government has that will tell you what it takes $$ wise, to raise a child to the age of 18 starting at pregnancy... it's kinda fun to look at.

For my pregnancy, the insurance company ended up paying close to $35000. I paid, out of pocket $500. That was my deductible.

Your best bet would be to call the insurance company and ask how much is covered.....then you will have a better idea of what you will need to pay out of pocket.....Good Luck!

well, i don't know, i've heard that a baby can cost you somewhere in the ball park of $10,000 in the first year of life, and as for the hospital, if you have insurance, ask them what your percentage of responsibility is, as for me, i have to pay i had to pay my co-pay for my first prenatal visit and the rest are covered by the insurance, for delivery i have to pay my $1,000 deductable, and then i have a 80/20 plan. they pay 80% and i pay 20%, so if the delivery is $10,000, they pay $8,000 and i pay $2,000... just call your insurance and ask :) Good Luck!

All kinds of money. There is no way to truly calculate. but a ruff figure would be between 30-50 thousand dollars by the time the child is like 10. Not to mention when they become teenager OMG!
