The classic book on feminism in the 1960s was Betty Freidan's The Feminine Mystique. It tells how women have to get away from finding joy only in home and family and be able to find happiness and achievement in jobs and community. Gloria Steinem and Susanne Jong were also authors who were willing to speak up for women and allow them to be equal and to achieve their dreams.
