My favorites when I was a kid were the folks who pretended to be a scarecrow. Dress in old baggy clothes and stuff with extra padding to look less um, 'alive', throw on a mask and sit very still by the door, when trick or treaters approach , startle them by lunging forward and growling. (Not a good idea with the very little kids, but fun with older ones). You could also stage a 'murder' scene. Have a bloody trail lead to a body either a fake or someone in makeup. Answer the door with blood on your hands (and possibly your mouth) Look innocent.

If you are doing one that is open to anyone, I'll give you this advice:
1) Have a clear walkway so no one will fall and get hurt (This goes for either one)
2) If there are people in th walk through who are acting, tell them not to touch any of the people who walk through it (some people won't like that and if they really don't, you could get sued if they are even touched on the shoulder)

I hope this helped! I don't really know any sites though, sorry.

By walk through, do you mean a haunted house? Here are 2 sites with some ideas you might be able to accomplish. Most, I'm afraid. will be rather advanced for you.
