It depends quite a bit on what kind of hair you have. Your best resource is those on your team who have competed before because they can see your hair :-)

Get a tube of gel and a super-strong hair spray. Any brand you get in a drug store works, everyone has their own preferences.

I have soft straight hair, I use medium-hold gel (it is not very thick) by L'Oreal and super-strong hold Aqua Net spray. I know that girls with thicker hair use strong hold gels that are thicker. With soft hair, thick gel will weigh it down and make you look like you have no hair, but thick gel is what you need if you have stubborn thick hair. Amount of gel that you need also varies - some people use up the whole tube for one hairstyle, some use very little gel but tons of hairspray. Experiment with it. And good luck with the comp.

You will also need ponytail elastics (if you hair is long) hairpins, bobby pins (for shorter hair) and hair net to cover your bun if you're making a bun.

in case you're married, you need to take classes inclusive of your husband, if the instructor is a woman, or mehram and the classes are inner maximum. in case you're single and the instructor is woman or mehram, the classes are inner maximum and your companion is mehram, then sure. rather, you will ought to compromise on the clothing, I propose, i do no longer understand how nicely somebody can latin dance in an abayaa, as an occasion; yet you won't be able to gown and dance like that throughout the time of front of non-mehram and nonetheless be a modest muslimah. (i do no longer think of dancing in any style of outfit impacts your innate decency, merely your point of modesty.)
