I like what Apple has to offer and after owning a dell for the past 3 years, I am over them. Their customer service sucks, their warranty is a joke...you call to use it and they will find a reason why they won't help you. I even went so far as to buy a dell for my mother, and as soon as the warranty expired, it broke. I would like to spend no more than $1,500-$2,000.

AN Apple I-MAAC G-5 would fit the bill. Nice thing about apple is there are no viruses out there for MAC. I know what some will say, but it is like the Ford versus Chevy versus Dodge theories.
I worked for a company that supplied Dells with their product. I found them to be the best. The warranty is something I never had to address. I found HP, Gateway, Toshiba to be Junk. I found Sony to be the best but hardly affordable.
To go to the very best it would be ACER. I have used many of them and they are super dependable.

For that budget, you should just build your own. That way you pick and choose the parts you want, and not deal with the "Dell Type" limited choices. There is lots of info on building your own, also, you can shop on Newegg.com to get parts. They usually have the best prices on things. You could also try HP. They are pretty reliable.

Apple computers can get really expensive, but the reliability is incredible. I use a mac at school to do my video editing, and in 4 years, I have never had it crash on me or had any errors.

I would suggest getting a PC. Do a google search for building a pc, it sould give you a pretty good idea how to link parts and buy the right things.

Well for that sort of money you could have the best... don't got to the box movers,,, dell hp, gateway, or compaq,

go to a local small computer shop, there you can have one built to your own speck... and you will get a better service,

Another thing to think about is the operating system... why pay through the nose for MS windows when you can have a better operating system for free with all the programs you will ever need, you can down load Linux for free, and all the software you will ever need, There are several versions of Linux

If I was you, I would read up on what Linux can really do, it puts MS XP and Vista to shame it is more powerful.

Dell, Hp, Compaq are about to sell their systems with linux pre installed on them, The best versions of Linux are supported by big businesses like IBM, Intel, Novell, and the Internet is run on Linux servers, A lot of governments, businesses and education departments are moving over to Linux

Did you know you can run Linux off a CD or DVD without installing it on your computer? and get on the internet, you can't do that with MS Windows

Did you know you can run up to 10 workstations off one computer, You can't do that with MS Windows

Did you know you can run Linux, MS Windows XP and Vista and the same time

These companies where you can download for free and which are the best supported
Ubuntu Linux ........***** 5 star system I am using it Now
OpenSuse Linux ***** 5 star system I am using it Now
Redhat Linux ..... Not used this system but is has a good name with many thousands of world wide users

I am a systems builder, I will be installing linux on my systems for my customers

Probably the best thing is to either build a custom pc on tigerdirect.com so you know exactly whats in it(but no kind of warranty), or find a cheap desktop/laptop from a place like tigerdirect thats very expandable. An apple might be ok, their hardware is quality I've heard. I'm very impressed with my gateway, hp, and compaq pcs, I highly recommend them, their tech support is great and free(unlike dell).

I won't say dell, but it starts with a "d" and ends in two "ll"s. Seriously, I don't know. It depends on your personal preferences.

I would say HP. I've been using Hp for a long time and they work pretty well. I can't complain about mine.

Have you considered building one? You'll get more for your money. Look at these links. The first one has a "bang for the buck" build that is about 1900.00
