Why ask a question if you don't want to hear answers other than what your opinion is? I've seen so many people get thumbs down who were not rude or objectionable, they just offered differing points of view. Why is this? Personally I think it's because there are so many children using this site. They have yet to learn that it's ok to have different beliefs and opinions. I know it's also those people who are just too ignorant to think they could be wrong.

Am I wrong?

Good point Martha, but the answerers giving the thumbs down are almost always of the same opinion of the asker.

you are totally right. half the questions are slanted to begin with. and when a question is followed by a diatribe I usually don't bother to answer it.

It's not always the asker that gives the thumbs, but I see your point. A lot of the questions on here are just veiled pleas for validation. Makes me think that there are a lot of lonely people out there.

ignorant children, or people don't realise what the button is for, it's for the quality of the answer.

"yes" = thumbs down

"yes beacuse etc 3 page explanation" = thumbs up.

i always rate by the quality of the answer, even if i disagree with the view, because that helps the questioner arrive at the best possible answer, in the spirit of debate.

The people asking the questions are not the ones giving the thumbs down. They cannot do it. You cannot vote/rate your own question.

The ones giving them are the rest of answerers who for one reason or another don´t agree with other answers.

Because they WANT you to agree with everything they suggest or ask. If you give an intelligent answer, its deemed unacceptable.
