I’m getting really frustrated living in Michigan. I lived in Philly for about 2yrs and moved back home (Michigan) spring 2005. I have one year left for grad school. Since I’ve been home, its tough trying to find a good paying job, the dating scene sucks!!! It’s tough trying to find a good-looking girl to date... And there’s things to do within Downtown Detroit and surrounding areas,,, but the people suck…People think that they’re better than you in Detroit or the suburbs…it’s still segregated within towns and social groups. I’m a down-to-earth person and like to interact with all types of people and races. If I don’t see a change really soon, then I’m leaving but where to? Or should I stay…I’m just a 25yr old just trying to experience a more quality life….

I would never live in MI but I've also never lived anywhere other than CT and NYC. I also do not know anyone that chose to move to MI unless they had a REALLY good reason and you don't seem to have one. The best reason would be to be close to family but sometimes it's not worth living in a place you don't like just so that you can see relatives, especially when you are in your 20s.

I know a lot of people that love Philly but I found the affordable areas are kind of dumpy and there wasn't really a lot to do. I spent most of my time in West Philly and I guess it's not the greatest area anyway. Lots of major cities have that problem where if you aren't rich, you have to live in the crap part of town but it's worth it if the 'downtown' area has great nightlife. That's why I love living in NYC. I could never afford to live in Manhattan but it's just a short subway ride away (I'm in Brooklyn) Brooklyn has enough of a nightlife anyway and lots of young, single people in their 20s. So, of course, I'd recommend that you move to NYC but that's a big deal and it can be tough finding an apartment you can afford these days. Boston is another option but it seems to be suited for a particular type of person, as in, you love it or hate it. For the most part, people l know seem to always juggle between LA, San Francisco and NYC. Those seem to be the cities people love. I've also heard nothing but good things about Austin, TX. Apparently there are a lot of young people there and it's really fun but I could never live in Texas.

Sounds like you've got to get out of Michigan no matter what. Chicago isn't that far away but, honestly, I hated Chicago more than any other major city I've ever been to. I found it to be totally depressing and weird. My friend went to art school there for 4 years and she seemed to like it (somewhat) but she packed up and moved to Portland, Oregon right after that. Apparently, Portland bored the crap out of her and she said public transportation sucked so she's back on the east coast now.

Good luck with this!

I have lived in Philadelphia and also in Ann Arbor, Michigan. On the whole, I much preferred Ann Arbor.

Traverse city - that is proper alongside the 40 fifth parallel which elements staggering climate for each season. in my opinion i imagine that is between the most attractive cities in Michigan, the Grand Traverse Bay is crystal sparkling and has attractive beaches, the perspectives of the encompassing hills are beautiful, and the final environment is extremely pleasant. in the course of the summer season tourism is large there with the once a year Cherry pageant and picture pageant. also some fashionable faces will be considered each and every once in awhile. Madonna's mom and father have a mansion on the peninsula, I actually have considered Bruce Willis in the area, and Michael Moore is likewise. yet another city close to right here it really is also incredible and intensely similar is Petoski.
