He was a Samurai who held the high position of Official execut1oner of the Shogun. But due to the political intrigue sowed by the Yagyu clan who coveted his position, he was disgraced and framed for treason. Whereupon he therefore decided to turn to a life of an outlaw killer for hire along with his young son, hence the name Lonewolf and Cub. At best he can be called a Ronin or a wandering masterless samurai.
