I'm in the UK and we let the nurse/doctor doing the scan know that we wanted to know the sex and she told us at the end of the scan. I don't know of any laws in the UK prohibiting this knowlege.

Likely. I know I am in the US. I didn't realize that there are laws in the UK forbidding the docs to tell you the sex of the baby.
I think it is in China that they are not allowed to disclose the sex of the baby because of the propensity of the women to abort female babies due to the limited number of children women are allowed to have.
Is it a legal thing in the UK, something to the effect of people have sued because the doc said it was going to be a boy and then turned out to be a girl and the couple was stuck with all boy stuff?

i think it depends on the area you are in but i know up here in Sheffield you can ask the sex of your baby at the 20 week scan and if its possible to see the right bits and pieces then they will tell you the sex of the baby, but this has only been more available in the last 5/6 years or so i asked to find out my baby's sex and she is now 4 and was told with no hesitation.

In the UK, most hospitals let you pay for a more advanced scan which shows the sex of the baby.

hi, i'm in the uk, in my hospital told me the sex of each of my babies, boy, girl, boy, but i know somone who was told the wrong sex. i think it's good to find out, you can get more prepared. i remember wanting a girl for my first but the scan told me it was a boy, so i'm really glad i found out, and when he arrived i was so pleased i had a boy.

Yes I am in the US. We just found out at 21 weeks we are having a girl. I believe most places in the US will tell you what you are having if they can tell. They just want you to know that its not 100% accurate...only thing that can be accurate is on delivery day and seeing the goods for yourself.
