Last week. My daughter, who is in the 1st grade, was up much later later than usual on a school night (late dinner, cousins came over to visit, etc.). At the last moment, she took out her school assignment notebook. She had a project due the next day! But since it was late and I was worried about her getting enough sleep, I told her to just go to bed and not to worry about the assignment and that we'd take care of it in the morning. I said this in the strict but disappointed tone that parents can have. She said, 'OK'. Then I looked into her eyes. SHE WAS CRYING! It only took one look into her sad puppy-dog eyes and I changed my tone and my decision. That night we stayed up past midnight working together on her project and she went to bed the happiest 1st grader on the planet.

I've made more than a few people cry. I'm not entirely ashamed to admit that.

Some have been tears of joy, because hey, I have my moments.

But more often, especially when I was younger, I've hurt people. It's never intentional, it's just the nature of emotional connections in a way. Either things are great and there's prosperity... or things are lousy, and somebody's going to get hurt.

I've matured and grown some, and I feel like I have a duty to be cognizant of the emotions of others... and that's something I didn't always understand. I try to be decent about things when possible. And most of all I try to conduct myself with a sense of honor. I feel like that's something that's sorely lacking in the world around me.

I'm accountable for what I do to others, in the hope of avoiding needless tears.

A couple months ago I had this crappy little part time job at a pizza shop until I got back into healthcare. In a total of a three day span, I made one co worker cry and the 28 year old manager (who's a guy) I am not very proud of this. I never really knew what I was capable of before.

Three days ago, I think the evil ways of PMS set in and I went off on my cousin about something stupid and I could tell I went too far and hear the tears in her voice. I felt horrible. I sent her a big bouquet of flowers and told her in the card I was the dirt that these flowers were once in.

I don't remember making someone cry, but I cry almost every night. I know it sounds strange for a guy. When you lose someone speical that when you cry and you cry painfully to their memories.

About 2 weeks ago I was talking to my ex-boyfriend from a few years ago and we went over some of the horrible crap we did to each other and he cried when I said that I didn't think he really changed all that much.

Sunday, I showed my grandma a picture someone had brought me of her when she was younger and she started crying because she missed those days, and of course I felt really bad about it afterwards.

I don't like making people cry! I don't like having to deal with the guilt of being mean to people!
