The answer is, use whatever colors you want. There are two primary concerns. The first and foremost and very much important is to make the form very easy to read. The background colors must contrast with the print colors! Be kind, and remember, like some folks may not, that for example, your pals who may be red-green color-blind can't see green print on a red background! Make sure your print is big enough but not irritatingly too big!

Another help to make the form easy to read is to make sure the fields are clearly labeled. The field labels should be a color different from the field contents (my opinion...) and the fields separated by a little whitespace.

Finally another help is to "group" sets of input fields in "fieldsets". Like, say, on a "contact me" form, you could group the "name" and "email" fields as a "personal information" fieldset and the "home phone" and "mobile phone" as a "phones" fieldset and, like that...

Then, the other concerns are "style" if you want to be "stylish", heh, heh. Rounded corners (like, say, on your buttons) are "stylish". Gradients (like colors that fade from one color to another) on the buttons...and fieldset backgrounds...and input field backgrounds are "stylish".

For colors, my personal taste (though others disagree) is for subtle and muted colors, since the reader has to be there for awhile to fill out the form and doesn't want to hurt the eyes by long-term exposure to a too-bright screen...

Good luck!

I think everyone is pretty interested in blue. Like a teal or even baby blue would be tight. An oval would look cool.
