I personally don't use such expressions because they are not useful and cause bad feelings. But that is not my problem with Don Imus.
He, apparently uses such terms on his show regularly as a kind of humor. If he though the point was humorous and intended to be then he should have stuck by it.
He did not. He, instead, ran away from it, called it untrue, stupid and hurtful. By doing that, he admits that he knew it was untrue, he knew it was stupid and he knew it was hurtful but said it anyway.
That is a reprehensible thing to do.
That is a lot different than saying, " I said what I said because it was a funny way of looking at the situation. I believe what I said is true. I am sorry if you were offended by it but I meant no offense." At least that wouldn't be so cowardly. You know damn well he meant it when he said it. So, to me, the apology is a sham.

that's the factor, why is it that Don Imus is being chastised yet others including Tyra and rappers including Ice cube or comedians including Chris Rock don't get raked over the coals for asserting the comparable ingredient. that's a double usually occurring. because Don Imus is being suspended, then everybody else that's interior the media spotlight that use that language might desire to be affected to boot.

double standards exist.. Fair? No..
It's perfectly fine for one group to use language about itself and not OK for anyone else to use that language???
If it's not OK for anyone else to say something, why is it OK for ANYONE to use that word.
From here on out, I believe that only white people should be able to utter the word "CRACKER". All of the other minorities will simply have to ask for an accoutrement for their soup or salad or cheese slices using a word that doesn't offend ME. If Zesta and Krispy and all of the other brands want to sell their product to minorities, they will need to use less offensive language in their packaging. From this point forward, only white people can buy crackers..
do you see how ridiculous this is??? good god, people.. get over it!

I agree. Anyone else who use such terms should be called on it also.
But would the girls on the team had been accepting of that language if it was Tyra calling them that? That, too, is a question to ponder.

Tyra uses the word 'nappy" when referring to her own hair. And when has she called someone a ho? I watch everyday and I've never heard her say that.

That would never happen. Due to the double standards in this world when it comes to race. It's sad really.

Both of them are in the wrong. But, my mom raised me better than to talk like that in public. She always told us, "Act like you got some raisin', even if you ain't"
There is no completely right way to handle this issue to please everyone

ah but that the whole point....................they are black and as such CAN and do use the word all the time.................but OMG no one else can as it then suddenly becomes a racial slur..................
If those words are SO offensive then along with certain others make it wrong for EVERYONE to use them not just the ones that are not black............
