he agreed to give all of his future income to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?
After all, there may be no other way to heal the damage he has inflicted on the black community.

I am not a big fan of Imus but this is ridiculous. Granted the statement was insensitive but it was in no way meant to be a racial slur. It is Al Sharpton and the other haters who always have to make things racial. It is things like this that encourage racism among whites!

No offense here. Granted what he said was uncalled for, however if you listen to the tape closely his producer actually started the banter. Next thing there is a thing called freedom of speech. Therefore he basically has the right to say what ever he wants to wether you or I think that it is appropriate. As long as he is not breaking any laws. He did not break any laws. The same thing goes for the whole Mel Gibson thing. He said something stupid he apologized let it rest already. I have personally listened to numerous rappers make a hell of a lot worse racial comments than this one. No one is saying boo to them. I question this. Why is it ok for someone of African American persuasion to use the N word and people not be offened but if a White person says it is is offensive. Personally I think it is offensive no matter who says it and it is racial no matter if the person who is making the comment is of the race he is being offensive about or not. There can not be two sets of standards. As for the word nappy hair, I personally have nappy hair every morning when I wake up or after washing my hair. My self esteem is high enough that if someone would call me nappy hair I would not take offense of this. However the word ho came into play also, This was not polite but in no way was this part racial. It may have been sexist but once again who am I to say what he can and cannot say. Unless we are willing to give up our rights of free speech the only thing that we can do or should do is change the channel and not listen. That is your right as a consumer, as an american, as a person in general. We can't make everyone agree with what we believe. And if you think you can you are foolish.

But, Imus has a right to free speech. Besides, look at the racial slurs Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have used against whites. They are just big black thugs. Oops, sorry, will I get censored for saying that? Will Al "Killa" Sharpton have some caps busted in my a$$?

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have done their share of harm to the black community as well. Personally, I think they're all a bunch of idiots (Imus, Sharpton & Jackson).

The only way to "heal" is to stop giving the idiots the power to ingratiate themselves into our lives.

I wonder why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have never complained about all the blond white girl jokes that go on in america?

If I got suspended from my job everytime I made a blond joke in my life I would probably be out of a job for about 5 years. And I doubt I am alone.

i think of that any one may be forgiven for many something. What Imus did replace into no worse than what black music artists do to a minimum of one yet another. His crime replace into in being white and doing so. in my opinion, i think of that if such an uproar is made approximately what Imus suggested, then blacks ought police their very own artists to boot. eliminate double standards. carry yourselves as much as the comparable standards to which you carry others. i will't stand racism, yet neither am i able to stand double-standards.

I honestly don't care what happens either way. And I'm not being racists, but if the blacks started promoting themselves instead of sitting at home on welfare, maybe they wouldn't have to worry about "damage" to their community. The only reason I like obama is because he is black and he made a life for himself. I think the black community should follow his example..but not in politics.

You overstate the case. Imus owes nothing further. He apologized and has been suspended for 2 weeks. If anyone feels that is not enough I would like to know what other reasonable steps you feel he should take. Don't nail the guy to a cross for making a mistake. We ALL make mistakes and he was big enough to apologize.

I don't think we can EVER forgive Don Imus. this is the WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED to blacks in my opinion deary. There is nothing that can be done to right this tragedy but we will all have to soldier on and do the best we can to live our lives under this black cloud.
