my bf asked me if i wanted to be proposed to at church i wouldn't have a problem with it if it werent for my pastor he's old fashioned and it just seems that he doesn't believe in young marraige

i go to a church of of god and and pastor hasnt said anything yet but i just don't think he'd be pleased it's not how i imagined it anyways but i told him to follow his heart on this one make sure not to embarrass me too much then i might decline your offer

Are you not going to be married in your church? What is the big deal, maybe you are not ready, maybe you are scared and just saying the preacher would not like it. Marriage vows are suppose to be between a man and a woman and God. I think it is very sweet that your boyfriend has planned something so big and wants to share it with the congregation of the church. Lighten up, if you are scared of marriage, then tell your boyfriend you are not ready.

I don't think you are ready to be married just b/c you are worried about what your pastor thinks and you are too embarrassed to be proposed to at church and you'll turn him down if he does? I think you have a lot growing up to do myself and maybe your bf should reconsider asking you and maybe you guys need to take a break. You are more worried about the way you are proposed to instead of preparing for a successful marriage.

I think proposal is a private thing to be enjoyed by the couple. If it is done in front of a crowd and planned like this, the spontaniety is missing.

Isn't that god's place?
Don't you have something like Catholic pre-cana, where this guy gets to tear into you anyway?
And if he tears into you two, why are you at that church?
