There's not much you can do on a 1966 VW Bus, short of an engine rebuild.

Just put this device called SURBO (derived from Suction tURBO) in between the air intake hose and the carburator. This device looks like a toilet roll core. One end is cut into 4 equal parts. Each part is then cut diagonally into a triangle, i.e. 4 triangles with the sharp points pointing toward the engine. These 4 triangles are bent slightly towards the centre and slightly twisted, i.e. inward and twist, to create a circular air.

You activate the Turbo effect by releasing slightly (only slightly) on the accelerator (for 0.5 sec to 1 sec) and then press the accelerator again. When releasing the accelerator, the air intake is less and some air bound backward from the carburator to the air intake hose. These air goes on top of the 4 slightly bent triangles and when you press the accelerartor down again, more air goes into the engine. The air on top of the 4 triangles will slide down the triangle towards the tips of the triangle. Assuming 1 gram of air on top of 1 triangle. The pressure is, say 1gram divided by 2 cm sq. When the 1 gram of air slide down to the sharp tip (point of triangle), the pressure is, says 1 gram divided 0.0001 cm sq. So, the pressure is very, very great at the 4 points. When the air leaves the 4 tips (points), the high pressure draws in more air into the engine. The twisted triangles give a cyclone effect (like an air screw toward the engine) Got it ?? With more air in the engine means more air out at the exhaust. SO, your car acts like a jet plane using more air to push the car forward. You get better acceleration and fuel economy by using more AIR (Not petrol/gas) to push your car.

I use it on my Mazda 323. It was great. I was surprise to find the tip of the spark pluds slightly white in colour. I guess more air means more oxygen. Hence, the white oxide left on the spark plugs.

Log on to www.surbo.net to read all the comments by all Surbo users. Read also how one man win 3 awards by fitting only Surbo on a FIAT car ! ! ! ?? to beat all the Mitsubishi, Honda and better cars in a race conducted in India.

Surbo gives a turbo effect by sucking in more air. No moving part, no servicing required and is for life time usage (transferrable). Unlike a small turbo machine which costs a bomb and requires costly servicing and maintenance and last only some years (not whole life).

Guess how much is the Surbo ? ? ? Only Singapore dollars S$80 which is about US $50 - US $55 as at April 2007.

depends on the model, on the year and the money you'd like to spend on it.

you can change the exhaust system for an extra 4 to 30 horses.
you can change the iron cylinder block for an aluminum. it will make the front end lighter and will give you strength,
you can change the camshafts to increase the amount of air/fuel mixture,
you can replace the cylinder heads for some aluminum ones to decrease weight and increase performance and strength.
you can get a bottle of nitrous for it,
you can get a supercharger or a turbocharger. that will increase the horse power of your car up to 70% depending on the boost.

you can replace the hood, trunk, doors, fenders, and bumpers with carbon fiber ones. that will increase strength and safety of the car up to 60% and will decrease the total weight of the car up to 7%, so it will get more miles per gallon, faster accelerating and higher top speed.

then replace the driveshaft for an aluminum one. it will make your car run faster because it's lighter.
don't forget about super street Kevlar clutch and reprogram your computer.

but, still i don't have enough info.
give me some info, like the year, make, model, and engine of your ride. I'll help.

Lemme see.. there are several ways actually.
1. Change/swap motor
2. Change intake system
3. ECU chips
4. Add Turbo if your engine can handle it
5. Supercharge it, again if your engine can handle it.
6. AFtermarket exhaust

All of the above will boost HP. These are just some of the options, not all.

Cheapest cost for the most....Headers/exhaust! If you do that though, you have to get it to breath in as well, so intake... Ignition, specifically an MSD coil will give you a hotter spark/better responce in any configuration!
