A stock drive is where the rancher moves cattle from one location to another. This was a major plot element in the film "City Slickers," which is a pretty good movie.

Some reasons why a rancher might want to do this is to move his/her cattle from its winter grazing pasture to its summer grazing pasture, or to drive the cattle to market.
