Yes, like other people have answered, your voice pretty much sounds different from what you hear. It might vary a little bit depending on the quality of the microphone and recording equipment used. If you're hearing it recorded on an answering machine, cell phone or inexpensive camcorder, the sound quality will distort your voice, but basically the voice you hear is the voice other people hear when you talk.

MY recorded voice sounds different, to me, than what I hear in my head, but I think that must be how I sound to others, because other people's recorded voice sounds the same as their live voice, so mine probably does too.

Yes,unfortunely for most people. When we hear our own voices, we also hear them through our bone structure, ie, jaw and then vibrations up through to the ear, also, we are listening in not a direct way, most people dont recognize their own voices the first time they here it played back to them and the usual thing they say is, is that me?

When you talk, sound travels through your head to your ear, giving your own voice a nice sound (I believe partly through your jaw bone). When you record your voice it doesn't have this part of the sound, so it sounds different.
