in other words how old was the world before christ was born.

um, it was 0. BC went backwards.

The last date in B.C. would have been 1 B.C. The world was approximately 3000 years in existence before Christ was born, although of course no one would have an exact number. 3000 years before Christ came was 3000 B.C... the numbers go down from there, like a countdown, to 1 B.C. Christ allegedly lived to be 32 years old, so it can be assumed that the world began 5,039 years ago. Hope this helps!

There was no dating .The early Church just started with what they thought was Christ birth and went on from there .Everything before his birth is B.C. everything after is A.D. That is Before Christ and Anno(year of) Dominni(our Lord).

BC time counted backwards, so the last BC year before Christ was born was 1 BC.
