I don't have an exact figure, but it's in the thousands of dollars. I adopted 2 kids here in Florida and only paid $35 each to file the papers with the clerk of court. I did it through HRS (now DCF) without a lawyer.

my neighbors just adopted a two year old little girl from china. they had a huge fund raiser to help offset hte cost which was about 6,000 to 10,000 dollars. the range depends on where in china the girl is coming from etc. you also have to wait until they call and say you can pick up the child. they were supposed to go over in august but didn't get called until the day be4 thanksgiving.
