Absolutely not. Just be careful to take precautions around people who may be ill, be sure to have every one wash their hands before touching the baby and dress him appropriately for the weather. My little girl was at the mall having her portraits done at 4 days old and was just fine as are MANY other babies :)

Unless you are giving birth at home, your baby will already have been outside when you came home from the hospital. Also, indoor pollution is about 10 times the level of outside. You need not have any concern about taking the baby outside. My daughter had to go back and forth to the doctor and hospital every day the first week of her life, so she was out and about more than she was home. The only real concern is keeping the baby away from other children. They carry tons of germs from daycare and school. There's a reason they don't let kids into the maternity ward (except siblings). Taking him to Grandma's shouldn't be a problem unless she's ill with something contagious.
Babies are not as fragile as you think. You can take them almost anywhere, but watch out for the fawning strangers that think they can touch your child. And for some reason, kids love to touch their faces.

If you live in a warm climate I don't see any problem with taking the baby out at that point. He/she has to go outside to get from the hospital to the car when coming home. Besides, babies love the outdoors and it's really good for them to get fresh air. Just make sure the baby is dressed appropriately so that he/she isn't too warm or too cold.

That should be fine, as long as he doesn't have any health conditions at birth. My mom took my little brother out to Mother's Day brunch when he was like 5 days old, and he was just fine. Also, I had a woman bring her 18-hour-old son to visit Santa at the mall when I worked there last year, because he was born two days before Christmas and she wanted him to have his first Santa picture done. If they're healthy to begin with, newborns are fine to be taken out in public. The real question is whether you'll feel like getting out of the house for long periods of time after just 2 days.

Down the block dressed appropriately is not a problem. Just remember in the colder months to dress baby in one layer more than you have on and in the hotter months to dress baby the same as you are dressed (as far as layers). The most important thing is to have everyone wash their hands before handling your newborn baby. Also, keep baby out of the sun. Sunscreen is not to be used on babies under 6 months old.

yes you can take the baby out its perfectly fine, i took my daughter to the store the day after we got home from the hospital and then to my mils house, its perfectly fine as long asits not cold out which june should be nice out. my daughter was bron in august so it was very hot out. make sure though that you cover the carseat with a blanket from the sun since you cant use sunscreen on a baby that small. I think the whole wait 6 weeks to go out is mostly for cold issues like getting sick and such since there immune systems are so new. My daughter was never sick untill she was 10 months old and caught the flu from a family members kid (i then learned not to go aroudn that family member.)

There's nothing wrong with taking a baby out soon after birth. We were taking my daughter out all the time to doctor's appoinments, diners, the mall, etc. Just be careful to keep the baby away from anyone who is sick and make sure the baby is dressed appropriately for the weather.

I don't think taking the baby places that soon is a problem. Make sure the washing hand thing and that no one is sick. Try to keep the number of people to a minimum at one time. Keep number of younger children to a minimum since the are generally more disease ridden.

It's fine. I had a baby last June and we took him out places. We went to the pediatrician when he was 2 days old and she said to just use common sense when taking him out. Make sure people wash their hands before holding the baby. Also, use your own judgement. If you don't feel comfortable with letting everyone hold your baby - don't.

Absolutely!!! Fresh air is great for babies. Just make sure babe is bundled up if it is windy and sun-screened if it is required (I use water babies 50SPF). You should do whatever YOU feel comfortable with anyways. If your baby is jaundiced, then the sunshine will do so much good for him/her to take in (small amounts at a time--10-15 minutes a day or so)
Have fun with the new baby and Congratulations......the baby's grandparents will thank you for it as well.
