Are you after old or new? I have an MG ZTT which is the estate version of the MG equivilent of the Rover 75. I brought it after MG Rover had gone bust for a knock down price. It's the best car I have ever owned. I've had no problems with reliability and the car has now done over 45000 miles. I am still able to get an ex MG Rover Garage to service it, and parts are still easily available.

I would suggest either a ZT diesel (BMW engine) or a ZR diesel (Rover L-series engine) - both engines provide plenty of torque for acceleration, and are much more reliable than the K-series petrol engines.

The ZS was also available with the L-series diesel, and should have fabulous handling (same platform as the Honda Integra Type-R), but always looked naff, inside as well as outside.

I would go for the earliest possible car, before MG Rover started to cut content (including rust proofing) to reduce costs.

Do not buy a TF or any newer one with the K series 1.8 ltr engine. They are renound for the head gasket going and warping the head.Be warned. If you are after a newer model then go for the ZT 135bhp diesel. This has the beauty of the 75 model with the BMW engine.

MGB is Probably my favorite everyday driver, roomier than the Midget..Although fun to drive also..But if wanting a classic I like my 53 TD model..and looking for a TF.. MOSS MOTORS is a great supplier or parts and accessories and no I do not work for them..Just a good supplier..Triumph Spitfires are a good one too
