"I'm a strong proponent of the restoration of the wetlands, for a lot of reasons. There's a practical reason, though, when it comes to hurricanes: The stronger the wetlands, the more likely the damage of the hurricane." --George W. Bush, New Orleans, March 1, 2007

Bush is a moron. The stronger the wetland, the LESS likely the damage of the hurricane.

Wetlands include coastal, marshy areas with vegetation that helps protect inland areas by taking the brunt of tidal surges, helping reduce the surge as it moves inland.

When these wetlands are overtaken completely by salt water, that protection is lost. When coastline is lost, the damage from tidal surge just goes further inland, duh.

No he does not. he reads the scriped he is given. He often does not read it correctly. I would like to see Congress order Bush to take a on the record physical. He has a very serious problem with consentration and comprehension. Much like many Republicans I know. Also much like all Republicans in Congress who have recently forgot Democrats won the last elections.

The true problem is that any person with intelligence and common sense would never want to be the President. He only reads what his staff writers write for him.

Apparently not. Bush continues to make senseless comments and I think that there is some sort of disconnect in his brain that doesn’t allow him to recognize how ridiculous his statements sound.

Go study some geology would you? Coastal areas with large wetlands are far more prone to tidal surge because the water piles up if you will in the shallows and further inundates the land nearest the coast. Whether he said it perfectly or not is irrelevant.

No he doesn't...that's the problem. W relies heavily on *coaching* for these things, then butchers it up when he has to deliver it.
