In America we don't let our religious crazies run around killing others for not believing what they believe. If they had their way they would. It falls into the Don Imus category, I'm such a good christian I will crucify Imus and have him fired if possible, courtesy the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton. They use their positions not to sow the word of their god like they are supposed to do and this is a perfect time to show they are christians but instead take it to a higher racial level than was intended and so by doing demonize Imus. Very christian. I just love the people who use the bible to hit others with the hypocrite stick.

You probably wont like this answer, even though it's true.
Ignoring the absolute extremists such as members of the KKK and their like, who are denounced by all true Christians, the religious right have the best interest of mankind at heart.
They would like all to be Christians, but they don't kill innocent people for the sole reason that they aren't Christian.
Everyone believes their religious faith is the correct one. (That's a given, if they didn't, they would switch to the one they believed to be correct.) True Christians believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ and believe in love and forgiveness. They therefore tend to be tolerant of those who hold other views.
Just don't force man-made laws and policies on them that put them in a position where they must support sin. For example, they don't believe in financing abortion. On the other hand, they don't believe in bombing abortion clinics either. Anyone who does would be found to be engaging in un-Christian activities by any true Christian.
The Taliban on the other hand believe in murdering innocent women and children for the advancement of their goals. They finance their militant ambitions by being the worlds largest producers and distributors of opium. Both are activities which I believe are quite different from the principles displayed by the Christian right.
NOW you have some small bits of the whole truth to evaluate. How you deal with it is up to you.

There is a close resemblance between all fundamentalist groups. They appear to be dangerous not only because of their fanaticism but their closed minds. There is reference here to the Southeastern United States Hillbilly Taliban. It would seem that Jerry Falwell is the Ayatollah with Pat Robertson as Grand Wizard and Warlord.

I'm not aware of any recent beheadings or suicide bombers that the Christians have perpetrated. I think that distinction shows a clear separation in the mentalities of the two.

One major difference: Christians aren't commanded by their God to kill those who won't convert. Those who believe in Islam (including the Taliban) are.

They are both right-wing religious fundamentalists. The only difference is one of degree. America's fundies are relatively liberal and secular compared to the Taliban.
You heard me cons. You guys are more LIBERAL then right-wing islamic terrorists.
To the guy below me. Christians aren't commanded to kill nonbelievers today. During the Dark Ages though, christians were burning witches and nonbelievers at the stake. Christianity has become more liberal and secular over the centuries. That's why its not as backward as Islam is today.
