Was it a joke? If they had a laugh out of it and the denomination of the gift certificate was some ridiculous amount like 5 or 10 dollars, then I would say it was a joke and you need to get over it. If it was for 50 or more then I would have been a offended. I know someone that sent all their kids a Christmas card one year, with nothing in it, and it said. OK kids, here is your present, nothing, we are going on a cruise, thanks for the gift!

Oh Man! that's a gift with a lot of humor in it! No I wouldn't be mad at them anymore. It was their attempt at telling you to move out and get on with your life. I have 3 boys. my oldest is almost 17. I could never be that uncaring toward them. But, I wouldn't hold it against them forever. We have our parents for so little time. My mother passed 10 days before my 12th b-day and my dad passed 3 years ago. I didn't have them long enough. I am in my early 30's too. Cherrish what you have with them while you can.

Well, it could have been a lot worse...like an invitation to move with no help at all! You have to give them credit for their sense of humor, too! Nope! You shouldn't be angry with your folks. You only get one set in life and when they are gone, it leaves a large void in your heart. They were just trying to help their "little bird" get started on his first big journey on to the road of life! Have a wonderful day! Annie

LMAO... I think they were providing a hint...honestly no you have no righ to be mad... and if you are then get over it and take it as a sign that they believed in you enough that they thought it was time you took more responsibilty for yourself... or it was a gag gift ... either way it was genius and funny... wish I had thought of that for my kids...roflmao

Harsh, but get over it. When our son moved out we filled his room to the door with junk. He got that hint not that he EVER wanted to come back.
