I think 2wk suspension should be enough. Afterall he apologized. Let's move on. However, if he is a repeat offender, he should be fired.

After reading what people posted about the Imus fiasco, here is what I think:

The "Freedom of Speech" claim:
Many claims it is just his opinion, and his right to freedom of speech. To me, an opinion is "I like apple more than oranges.". To refer to a group as "nappy headed hoes" is just slander because you would then have to prove that they are all indeed hoes. Just as a journalist cannot write something in the newspaper that is not true, else they risk getting sued. However, if Imus said, "I don't like nappy headed hoes" then I think that would constitute as an opinion and that should be okay.

The "Rappers said it too" claim:
Same goes with rappers, if they say something in the context of an opinion, then that is okay. If they direct it to someone or a group, then they too have to be held accountable for what they rap.

The "Other races have nappy hair too" claim:
If I am not mistaken, the fuss is about the whole phrase "nappy headed hoes" but rather then the word "nappy" itself. The whole phrase would probably translate to "those girls with nappy hair on their heads are hoes". True that they might have nappy hair, but they are not hoes (unless proven so). Doesn't matter what race have nappy hairs. Calling them "hoes" without prove is what is derogatory.

It is total garbage that he was suspended, nothing should have been done at all. Any intelligent person like yourself realizes it is a tongue in cheek joke. If people are offended, dont listen! Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Why dont the same people who are calling for Imus's job go and ask for Carlos Mencia to be fired, he says way more racist stuff about all races then Imus. Why didn't they go ask for Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock to be fired, again they make way more racist jokes then Imus. Why is there a double standard? I know people are going to say that white people who are offended should protest but if we did we would be the ones called racists. Most white people walk on egg shells out of fear of being called racist for anything we do. I think it is junk that he was suspended at all, he should be on he air excersing freedom of speech. If people dont like what he has to say then they have the freedom to listen to something else. We are quickly becoming Un-American. Support FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

He made a mistake... yes I think his suspension is enough. It is time to move on. He is an American, we do have the right to say whatever we want, and we as Americans can chose to change the station, that is all that needs to be said about this situation.

For all of the debate of racism, it replace into truly extra a sexist challenge. He replace into asserting that the girls of the Rutger's basketball group have been grotesque and unattractive. truly, the girls have been there to play basketball and purely their skills as a set mandatory to be evaluated. winning the interest replace into no longer approximately how they regarded. The terminology he used replace into from older used Black speech (nappy, which skill kinky or out of types) and highway slang (the H be conscious)...the two sexist words used with Black women. no longer all of the group of Rutgers replace into Black, by skill of how. yet Black women in lots of cases have those subject concerns...police treating my sisters like adult adult males in the event that they have short hair....Black woman athletes no longer receiving the comparable volume of sponsorship funds, no longer in line with their overall performance, yet as a results of fact those human beings do no longer evaluate them beautiful. all of it is going back to "are not I a woman?"...yet you in all probability don't get that reference the two. It replace right into a hateful remark, rooted in others' deep emotions approximately Black women, that fluctuate into truly pointless.
